Featured Term (selected at random):

LIFE

Inward activity. The essence of a being to act from within; ranging from the life of God, which is identical with his nature, on through all the forms of life in the created universe. The higher a nature the more intimate what comes from it, for its inwardness of activity corresponds to its rank of being. Life is immanent activity, which begins and terminates within the living being.
