My family member has lived with crippling back pain for years. They have done surgeries, but some have been botched.

She has been living on pain killers.

Tomorrow they are going to try to put a direct line into her spinal cord, or something... so that the meds can go right in.

Winstons Julia, prayers for pain relief for your dear relative. Please tell her that prayers absolutely do work.

In 1898, after surgeries and terribly painful procedures, the years of excruciating unbearable back pain and resultant poor health for Gemma Galgani appeared to be near an end when she was given last rites. Yet through her fervent prayers there occurred a glorious miracle of healing which she shared with all in her later writings.

She is absolutely an ardent Christian and knows that prayer works.

Through all of her tribulations she has never lost faith.

We will have ALL of her grandchildren for the first time this Christmas.

My nephew was a victim of cheating wife syndrome when he was on his tours...long story....

But she is a Christian believer and while Christ is working in other areas in the family... right now, SHE’S the one needing prayers, though she would probably never ask for them on her own.

I will be praying for her! I also have to deal with having had multiple back surgeries and chronic pain. The more surgeries you have the more scar tissue gets formed. One thing that I did that has made an incredible difference in my pain tolerance and life is a Spinal Cord Stimulator. Medtronics is the brand I had implanted in 2007. If sciatica is her chief complaint, it is an amazing innovation that really works for many people.

You can Freepmail me if you want any more information. I don't know if this is something she has already investigated, but if not, it could be a much better choice for her than an automatic internal pump of pain meds. I am not totally off them, but, without this stimulator, I would probably have to take a lot more - and you get immune to them after so long and need larger doses.

And thanks to you all for the wonderful words and petitions to our Lord.

I am only beginning to really learn how to pray. I really don’t pray for things for myself...

I just know that God is going to take care of me...

And I look back at life and remember the words of Kierkegaard: Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forward.

People having surgeries in my family... well... that has turned out badly on a few occasions.

So I’m thinking of today and I’m concerned.

I know that God has control of this. I’m just hoping that God will grant her freedom from pain.
