I just read the religious forum rules. I would like to point out that whenever there is an anti mormon thread, a number of people will post that these people (the anti mormons) are crazy, fanatics, etc. Therefore, I did not realize until now that there is a rule against criticizing them personally.

I do wish to see all FR articles and I wish to comment on them. I do not wish to violate the rules, nor is it necessary to make a personal attack to respond to the articles.

I will merely comment that it is a bit strange to have swarms of people attacking a religion, but the attackers are not themselves fair game.

Accepting all of the rules, it astounds me that with radical Islam turning this world upside down, so much energy is being wasted on articles about the Mormon religion.

Frequently, when one religion spawns from another both condemn each other in the harshest terms possible, e.g. anathema, apostacy, cult, Satanism, heresy. Such words and sentiments often become part of the holy writings.

Therefore contentiousness between faiths should be expected in "open" Religion Forum debate, e.g. condemnations, ridicule. But when the focus turns from the belief to the individual Freeper who holds that belief, flame wars often result.

For instance, it would be ok to say on an "open" Religion Forum thread that "Scientology is stupid" but it would not be ok to say "You are stupid."

Hey, I’ve got an idea. You seem to have enough spare energy to complain about anti-Mormons on anti-Mormon threads. Why don’t you redirect that energy to posting some anti-radical Islam articles? You’ll be too busy to worry about what’s going on over on these threads, and you’ll be doing your part to fight the jihadi menace.

If Islam is your religion of choice to discuss, start a thread. Otherwise, others have every right to talk about religious issues that concern THEM and open threads discussing them. If you don't care about the subject, don't read the thread and don't feel like you have to come on a thread to dictate to everyone what you feel they SHOULD be talking about instead.

P.S. I'll ping you to the next thread that comes up where Islam is discussed. We can then see where you stand on it.

Let’s say you are arguing with a liberal about some of Obama’s policies, and their reply is simply: “You’re just a hater!!”

Is that the kind of discourse you want to promote on Free Republic?

On your point, I will merely comment that it is a bit strange when the only response to disagreement with Mormonism is a personal attack. IMHO it is quite rare that the Mormon apologists on these threads actually respond on doctrinal grounds. That darn internet.
