I really don’t know for sure, but I would venture to guess that St. Macimilian was speaking out against the abuses of the Eucharist by them. It might have been that he challenged them also on pagan practices.
We would need to find some evidences of these. I am only guessing.

The reason I find it so interesting and puzzling is that this Pope Benedict 16 has spoken to the dangers of “Freemasonry” and the forces of Freemasonry at work inside the Vatican itself! Its a very strange word to use because in everday parlance, Freemasonry refers to the rather inocuous and now mostly powerless Order of Masons, i.e., the Masonic Lodges, etc. So I have to believe that as the term “Freemason” is used by Roman Catholic prelates, Saints and Popes, it must be “code” for something else?
