So, I’m curious: is this your church’s teaching and practice as well?

It probably is (Wesleyan); but, as one can see from my postings, I'm not a slave to it.

That is my understanding of the Wesleyan Church as well. My understanding of the Catholic Church is that one must attempt to follow the directives of the Church and to acknowledge when one has fallen short (sinned or missed the mark). And until one has come back into full practice and then confessed, then one is not in full compliance with the Church and it is up to that individual to do so.

Sometimes it seems that it is difficult to discern what compliance is, or what one should do, but I don't really think so.
