The thing is that Yoga originated in Tantric Hinduism but in the exercise form is not based on Hinduism

in the same way martial arts in many cases is based on Chinese philosophy.

I think we need to separate out the Hindu religious part from the exercise, just as how many of us have done so for martial arts

Yoga was developed to escape the wheel of reincarnation to more quickly arrive at self realization (godhood). Every gesture in Yoga is a gesture of reverence to one of the 32 million Hindu gods. It is antichristian in all of its ramifications. People need to look deeper at the practice than to view it as an exercise. It is much, much more than that.

It is the quickest method to achieve an altered state of consciousness. Faster than hypnosis, drugs, or any other technique for thos who have mastered it. It is not inocuous.
