James Hohmann reports the latest Battleground Poll numbers:
Obama leads 50 percent to 47 percent, which is within the margin of error. His 50 percent job approval rating puts him at a crucial threshold for an incumbent seeking reelection. Its an uptick from the spring and summer, but 48 percent still disapprove.
Romney, meanwhile, finds himself sliding in the wake of two events the choice of his running mate and the Republican national convention that were supposed to buoy his candidacy. His unfavorable rating ticked up from 46 percent to 49 percent over the past seven weeks, as the share viewing him favorably held steady at 46 percent. Personal likability boosts the president, who is viewed favorably by 53 percent. ...
Obama now ties or has an edge over Romney on who is best to handle every major issue except the federal budget and spending.
Romney has lost his edge on jobs. A month ago, he led Obama by 6 points on the question of who is best equipped to put Americans back to work. Now theyre even. Among those who say creating jobs is their top priority, Obamas up 11 points.
A slight majority disapproves of the way Obamas handling the economy, yet he narrowly leads Romney on who is better to manage it.
The tax numbers may be the most striking in the poll. By a small, 4-point margin, voters say they would rather have Obama a Democratic president who has pledged to raise taxes on the wealthy handling the tax system than Romney. Voters choose Obama over Romney on foreign policy by 9 points and pick him on standing up for the middle class by a 19-point margin.
As James writes, Romneys only issue advantage is on spending, where he leads Obama by 5 points. There's no question that the budget is a major issue in this campaign, but it may not be enough on its own to offset Obama's lead on the broad category of "standing up for the middle class," if Romney can't also take back his lead on jobs.
What I found interesting was this, on page 113:
Hopefully the numbers will actually turn out that positive.
...what does Rasmussen say?
The Romney campaign made what could be a fatal mistake. Early on, they let the Obama campaign have the field to themselves, and they let them get away with making it about Romney, rather than about Obama. I hope they can recover. But it does not look good.
prolly has more to do with his morman religion...
Catholics who hope that they can say ‘forgive me Father, for I have sinned...”
Politico is a Rat party propaganda organ. They exist ONLY to keep Obastard and the Rats in power. By now everybody should know that “polls” can be manipulated to strike fear and terror in the weak minded opposition.
Point #1. This is posted in the "Religion" forum, not the "News" forum. That should give the readers a clue that there is possibly a religious angle somewhere.
Point #2. The religious angle spoken about in point #1 is shown in the OP comment to the article. Please look at the table pasted into that comment. You will note that Catholics are polling 50/43 for Romney (All Catholics, not just weekly mass-goers). That is distinctly different than the last election (where it was 52/48 Obama, by exit polls).
That's the reason for posting this article. That's the reason for posting it in the "religion" section.
I stopped reading at “Politico...”
What i find interesting is the jobs skew in Obama’s favor. I’ve seen this in more than one poll of late. This question shouldn’t be close considering Obama’s track record. Mind boggling.
Lets see in November, who cares what they want!
These phony polls are all he has to keep his mediots energized and the cash flowing.
Pray for America
I live in a HEAVY democrat controlled area near Cleveland, Ohio. I went to a weekday Mass recently and a woman stood up before Mass started and said there were copies of a novena in the church for a Romney victory.
Never underestimate little old ladies with rosaries.
Only 3% undecided or other at this point? I don’t think so.
What i find interesting is the jobs skew in Obamas favor.
What is the saying, if your neighbor is out of work, it is a recession. If you are out of work, it is a depression. If you are working, it is a great economy.
The entire poll is BS so why post it ,
Leftico is a dem newsletter .
This rag lets Mikey Allen peddling the daily white house talking points given by his wife a Dem party employee .
These clowns have Former Soros staffers named ken Vogel push lies daily .
It’s a garbage polls that vastly understates

A lot of the polls’ internals (not just this one) are positive for Romney. Except the summaries seem to favor Obama.
What I find really encouraging is non-whie Moms are only going for O at a 75%rate. That shows that he isn’t pulling the wool over the Moms’ eyes.
Romney’s edge with Catholics will help him in PA.
