New revelation: Mormons can drink Coke or Pepsi
National Post ^ | Sep 4, 2012 | Religion News Service

SALT LAKE CITY — Maybe now, reporters, bloggers, outsiders and even many Mormons will accept that the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not forbid drinking cola.

On Aug. 29, the LDS church posted a statement on its website saying that “the church does not prohibit the use of caffeine” and that the faith’s health-code reference to “hot drinks” “does not go beyond (tea and coffee).”

A day later, the website wording was slightly softened, saying only that “the church revelation spelling out health practices … does not mention the use of caffeine.”

The same goes for the church’s two-volume handbook, which LDS leaders use to guide their congregations. It says plainly that “the only official interpretation of ‘hot drinks’ … in the Word of Wisdom is the statement made by early church leaders that the term ‘hot drinks’ means tea and coffee.”

I think Jesus would cast his vote for Romney over the zer0.

WOW!

Your MORMONism is REALLY entrenched!!

Jesus HAD his chance to vote when Joseph SMITH ran for President.

We all KNOW how THAT turned out!!

...the presidential campaign of Mormon Church founder Joseph Smith in 1844: “Challenging Democrat James Polk and Whig Henry Clay, Smith prophesied that if the U.S. Congress did not accede to his demands that ‘they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them.’

Smith viewed capturing the presidency as part of the mission of the church.

The Speaker of the House would become President until the issue was settled.

There is really no need for the underwear if you do not OBEY all of the rules required to be TEMPLE WORTHY®.

Remember:

Only 15% or so of ALL mormons have a Temple Recommend card.

...MORMONs not only are taught to NOT think for themselves, but to FOLLOW what the Living Prophet® tells them...

In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these “Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet”, for our salvation depends on them.

1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say “Thus Saith the Lord,” to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by men’s reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.

I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

Ezra Taft Benson

First response was incorrect. The Vice-President Elect becomes ‘Acting President’ until the matter is resolved, although that depends on if the Electoral College has declared a winner.

And they would be far more endangered under a Communist Muslim who hates western religion more than they would be under a Mormon, so I’m supporting Romney.

And where is your EVIDENCE that what you so confidently assert is true?

COMMUNISM does NOT say that Christianity is wrong: MORMONism does.

Besides he has a good Christian as his VP and a lot of other good Christians around him to make sure he does right.

Two words:

Joe Biden

"Romeny (and Ryan) DO get elected, but, amazingly, Romney dies of some unforeseen illness before January 20th. Who becomes President NOW?"

Because they were elected for President and Vice President, I don't think it would matter that Ryan hadn't been sworn in as Vice President. I'm pretty sure he would automatically be slated to be sworn in as President.

And then Ryan would nominate someone for Vice President and the Senate would confirm. (We saw that with Gerald Ford).

You are not acting in a Christ like spirit. Instead you are acting in a spirit of ego, spite and malice because your candidate of choice did not win the GOP nomination

islam and mormonism have much in common. IE false prophet, anti-Christian.....(and no I am not saying mormonism is out to kill people) the similarities have been posted before.

Most of the people who surround Romney are also mormons.

20th amendment, section 3:

If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President.

Part of the Constitution since Jan. 23, 1933.

You can continue to try to justify your actively working for evil here to God one day. You will no longer be able to claim you did not know what your were doing.
