The Elephant in the Room: Mitt’s Mormon Faith [Which is why one-third still don't know he's Lds]

(ThyBlackMan.com) If you remember during the 2008 Presidential election, there was a strong effort to try to expose the faith of then Senator Obama. Many tried to label him an extremist because of his connection with the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright.
I am curious to know if Mitt Romney will receive the same type of treatment given the lack of knowledge that most Americans have about the Mormon faith. I think that faith must be on the table since it was a factor in the previous election. Perhaps the reason it has not be raised is because the GOP leaders know that up to 25% of their base absolutely will not vote for a Mormon regardless of his credentials.
Lets take a look at some of the beliefs of GOP Presidential Candidate, Mitt Romney Mormons faith. All of the information provided was taken from the Mormon Faith Tenets.
- The Mormon faith teaches that God the Father was initially a regular man who had a wife and they both lived on a celestial planet. They conceived and produced celestial offspring which gave birth to spirits that created Jesus, the devil and mankind. Once babies are born, they receive one of these spirits. (Journal of Discourses Vol. 6 page 265)
- Mormons believe that members who tithe 10% of their income will become gods of their own celestial planet.
- Mormons believe that the Book of Mormon is more accurate that the Christian Bible. (History of the Church, vol. 4, p. 461)
- Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are spirit brothers. (Mormon doctrine page 163)
- Mormons believe that Jesus return to New Jerusalem will be on the American Continent. (Mormon Article of Faith #10)
- Mormons believe that the gospel will be propagated through the Book of Mormon, not the bible. (Doctrines and Covenants section 10)
- Mormons believe in baptizing the dead by proxy.
- The Mormon church has a very disappointing past of allowing blacks to become clergy men.
According a Christian Post article, What do Mormons Believe? Ex-Mormon speaks out, October 18, 2011 by reporter Devenish the following items were cited about Mormon beliefs:
- Mormons do not believe in the trinity.
- Mormons do not believe in grace.
- Mormons do not believe in the original sin of man. According to the article, you cannot sin until the age of eight.
- Mormons do not believe in hell.
- Mormons believe that you can own your own planet if you are a good Mormon, married in the temple and tithe.
- The ten tribes of Israel will return back to Missouri.
I took the time to itemize some of the different beliefs that Mitt Romney believes in to show that he is not a perfect candidate just because he seemingly names the name of Christ. We have to be careful with the Trojan Horses the GOP sends our way in the name of religion.
I challenge all of the African American pastors to consider if they want to vote for someone who believes totally different from what they preach every Sunday. If you can vote for Mitt Romney with a clear conscience knowing his religious beliefs, his insensitive policies that do not benefit the African American community then go for it. If you have reservations, then you must consider our current commander and chief.

I really dislike disagreeing with Elsie, but they are wrong here.
mormons worship false godS not false a god.
Apparently you forgot the rest of Matthew 7:
True and False Prophets
15 Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheeps clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
True and False Disciples
21 Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? 23 Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!

"God is clear, call out false prophets and teachings - IE mormonism" I'm glad that you're so knowledgeable of God's instructions. It should be that the rest of us could be so divine.

Oh, I am so sorry, that apparently you have been unable to read God’s Word.
I am not divine but I can read and understand.

No problem at all, ravenwolf, this particular forum makes me a bit out of sorts myself. Thanks for the response very much, I wasn’t sure if I had possibly misdirected some negative emotion there ^^

I choose to not judge your God, nor Romney’s God. St. Matthew, Chapter 7 says to me: “Judge not, lest ye be judged.”
What Gospel do you judge by?
- - - - - -
Matthew 7 is speaking about judging HYPOCRITICALLY, not avoiding judgement altogether. Read the rest of the Bible and you will see that Christians are called to judge false doctrine and those who claim to be Christians. Do you need me to post scripture verses for you?
If you are a Christian then you believe in the same God I do, which is NOT the God of Romney. You should do your research first before you give Mormonism a pass.

I firmly believe that Romneys religion will impact his decision making as president in the same way JFKs Catholicism affected his decision making, i.e., not at all.BELIEVE???

I have my own relationship with Jesus Christ, I dont need a church or a priest or anyone else in order to engage in that relationship,
- - - -
I will agree with that, but if you do have a relationship with Christ, then you should be concerned about those who claim to be Christians yet teach things that insult him. You should also be concerned about the lost souls, like those in Mormonism.

I have known a lot of Mormons, most of whom were very conservative. Republicans carried Utah in 2008 by a 28% margin, in 2004 by 41%, and in 2000 by 40%. I don't see any of the stupid liberal things Romney did in MA as distinctly Mormon. My concern is for his liberalism. I'm confused.
It appears that you think that being MORMON explains the heavy conservatism found in UTAH; yet you freely admit the LIBERALism of MITT troubles you.
Can't you connect the dots and see that mitt is LIBERAL; then he isn't very MORMON?
And yet how could he NOT be MORMON, if he is so high in the LDS religious groups hierarchy?
SOMEthing does not compute here.

Well, I’m not concerned.
Jesus can handle Himself and lost souls just fine, I’m quite sure.

You are unhappy because your guy lost in the primary so you and 3 others sulk and stay home. You are 8% cumulatively of the vote. All other Rep vote for Romney so he gets 42 votes. Meanwhile only 2 dems stay home and he gets 48 votes. Good strawman; but BAD numbers!!!

Meanwhile 20 dems stay home because OBAMA didn't fulfill his promises to them and he gets 30 votes.
YaY!!! Romeny wins! either way!!!

Way back when the Clinton saga was waxing and waning....I had the unfortunate pleasure of "debating" some family about what was happening then. They..( The lib's in the family ..) claimed as you....
"Judge not, lest ye be judged."And one of my "family" was a "Minister"...yet SHE knew nothing of the context of that Scripture......as apparently you don't either.
I will explain it to you...if you need it.
