Relaxed and at ease, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller returns a week after his appointment as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to the Diocese of Regensburg. A series of interviews for journalists are on the agenda for Friday: liberation theology, the SSPX and the situation of divorced and remarried. Minefields for an ecclesiastic, who has moved to third place in the Vatican's ecclesiastical pecking order.
Archbishop Mueller, first of all, congratulations on the new job. Since when did you know about your appointment?
I definitely knew it on 16 May, when the Holy Father has summoned me to his presence.
Did your commitment to the liberation theology endangers your appointment?
I do not know. If you know the Catholic faith, we know that to her essentially belong the social obligation, the responsibility for the world, the love of the poor. Liberation theology is a big word - but every Christian theology has something to do with the freedom of man. Also in South America in this context, it is about theological questions: Given the misery and indignity that many people around us can not imagine, given this glaring injustice, we can not simply go away with a pious raising of eyebrows about it. Faith and doing good go together. These are the two sides of a coin.
Are you then in agreement with the Pope?

Can’t somebody at least go for the “the disciples stole the body” argument? You’re really not getting anywhere running from the question.
Good. Because I made it up.
Finally, we are getting somewhere. :{)
Thank you for your honest response. I wish everyone could be so honest. I totally respect your belief.
I know. I just thought that what you said was true, and that serious discussion of it would not help this thread, so I drew a picture.
But if the Resurrection did happen, then Jesus Christ is Lord!
Well, then I apologize and thank you at the same time. Time for bed...schlaffen zie gut und guten abend.
Of course, if the disciples stole the body to make it look like Christ had risen when he really hadn’t, why would they turn around and devote their lives to poverty, hardship and certain torture and death?
And if either the Jewish or Roman authorities had possession of the body of Jesus, they would certainly have put it on display in order to crush this new religion which was such a threat to their power.
I am so glad you can take a joke.
Your comments are just as welcome as mine, and I was ribbing you because you came on pretty strong to GORUSH.
I hope I have made a new friend, and not a new enemy.
: )
But history shows the news of the day was that the tomb was empty.
The Roman authorities accepted it.
The Jewish authorities did also.
There were no claims during that period in history contradicting the fact of the empty tomb.
No. I thought you were calling GORUSH an ignoramus because he said he's an agnostic. See the logic ?
I was quoting a Cambridge scholar regarding agnostic being translated in Latin as ignoramus.
Yeah... you gotta watch those ENGLISH to LATIN translators at Cambridge. It was probably a fraternity prank.
: )
I wasn't running. Whether Jesus was in the tomb , or not, or his body went up in a beam of light, somewhere later, is not the basis of my 'faith' in GOD.
OK. But don't tell anybody.
It's all made up. Everything. There, are you happy now?
: )
The bad part is you are right, and there is no proof either way. Never will be. It's really a matter of personal decision. Back to what I said first. It's all in your head.
Thank you, I'll send a bill.
(just joking)
Yeah, me too. It is getting late , isn't it. My how time flies on the religious threads.
God is not offended by our doubts, He welcomes them. "Come and let us REASON TOGETHER", He says. The worse thing we can do is to give up on the idea that truth can be known. It DOES exist and all God asks is that we diligently and sincerely seek Him. Ask and you SHALL receive. Knock and the door SHALL be opened. Seek and you SHALL find. God says that He will reward those who seek to know Him. I now have NO doubts at all because unlike the world who says "seeing is believing", I have learned that, with God, "believing is seeing". It takes a step of faith, sure, but that is what God wants us to do. But after we do take that step, He is there to blow our minds with the evidence and we WILL see!
I hope so, because even GOD said in the Bible that we are a pretty evil lot, and without some forgiveness, we could all be in a heap of big trouble.
He thinks he’s Jesus rep. on earth.
He thinks he’s Jesus rep. on earth.
Number 3?
Nonsense!
I don’t think you are talking about the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The word "agnostic" means "without knowledge". "Gnosis" means knowledge and "a" means without. So one who calls himself an Agnostic is basically saying he is without knowledge. There's nothing wrong with being without knowledge about certain truths but to want to remain in that state and not try to be "with knowledge" could be thought of as ignorant behavior ESPECIALLY for someone who is capable of understanding.
