Pres. Obama’s Tax on Practicing Your Religion
What Does the Prayer Really Say ^ | 6/30/12 | Fr. John Zuhlsdorf

The Supreme Court ruled that the individual mandate could survive as a tax. The penalties imposes are viewed, in the decision, as taxes.

But through the edict of non-elected HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Pres. Obama would force religious institutions against conscience to pay for some services… or face penalties (i.e. taxes).

Question:

Isn’t it now the case that if the Obama Administration punishes St. Ipsidipsy Catholic Hospital in Black Duck for refusing to provide employees their abortifacient pills, then the Federal Government is taxing the exercise of religion?

Thus, the First Gay President is another step closer to another deeply desired goal: the segregation of religion away from the public square … the shifting of religion to the private sphere alone.

The Obama Administration has already tried to move discussion from “freedom of religion” to “freedom of worship“.

A ‘fine’ was much, much harder to fight. This is a tax. The taxing of churches and other religious organizations for religious activities is a very long standing precedent in the courts, and Robert's decision makes it extremely likely that there will be a defacto religious exemption to this act.

That said, it is the bloody useless drones in congress which ultimately must fix this, rather than pretending that some court will come in and fix it for them. SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT until this bill is killed.

The Constitution has protections against this ruling. Here’s one: an Amendment to more clearly define the Congress’ power to tax, clearly stating that taxing our behavior is illegal.

At this point, Congress (and a complicit President) doesn’t appear to have any limits on tyranny.

roberts put this back in the lap of Congress/House and Obama. It will be repealed in the house.

As one thread says “They can say we have to eat broccoli, but they can’t rax us if we don’t.”

The Obama Administration has already tried to move discussion from “freedom of religion” to “freedom of worship“.

Thus, when you are in church for an hour, the government will allow you – at no charge- to be a Catholic. If you want to be Catholic and faithful in the workplace – even a Catholic institution – you will pay for the privilege through a tax.

We must stand up to this, especially in the voting booth while we still can.

I want to be…

Catholic and Faithful!
American and Free!

A great way to implement shariah’s dhimmi tax in the US.

What we should work for now is that on January 20, 2013 at 12:01pm, Kathleen Sebelius will be frog marched out of her office at HHS.
