The Beatitudes are greatly misunderstood by some.

Yes, Catholics and good Christians are being persecuted right now.
“Blessed are the lowly for they shall inherit the earth.”
In a recent Old Testament reading, all the craftsmen and rich people were sent off to Babylon, and only the lowly were left in Israel — the very poor. Yet Christ says they will be blessed.
It has nothing to do with social justice.
Without Christ, there is no social justice — I believe that’s an Archbishop Chaput quote.
