SOROS-FUNDED GROUP SET TO NAIL BISHOPS
June 18, 2012
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments as follows:
June 21 marks the beginning of the Fortnight for Freedom events, the campaign for religious liberty being conducted by the nations bishops. Fair-minded persons may disagree with this effort, but there is something unseemly going on when those who work for a George Soros-funded group are quietly providing talking points to the media.
John Gehring is an official at Faith in Public Life, and it is his organization that lives off the bounty of the left-wing atheist billionaire, Mr. Soros. On June 7, Gehring sent a memo to his buddies in the media (a copy of which was generously leaked to meclick here) instructing them on how to handle the bishops. They should begin by questioning the prelates why the Obama accommodation wasnt good enough. You have to ask why the bishops cant take yes for an answer, he wrote. [Sounds like Sandra Schneiders. No?]
Teaching them how to handle the war on the Catholic Church, Gehring advises, Several bishops have used inflammatory and irresponsible rhetoric that conflates a process of working through complex policy issues with a fundamental attack on the Catholic Church. He also frets over the politicization of the religious liberty campaign, an effort made possible, he neglects to say, because of the politicization of religion by President Obama.
Not to be outdone, Gehring presses his lackeys to victimize the victim, beckoning them to ask the bishopsall of whom refuse to prostitute their principlesAre you willing to sacrifice Catholic charities, colleges and hospitals if you dont get your way on the contraceptive mandate? ["But, for Wales?"]
Finally, Gehring provides a go-to list of Catholic activists who can be counted on to subvert the bishops message. Its what we would expect from a George Soros group. [I think we should see that list!]

Take a look at the PDF which is linked in the post, above, and HERE.
It would be good to discuss language to address the talking points these people are giving liberal newsies in order to attack the bishops.
It was interesting to see the names on the PDF:
Nicholas Cafardi (once at Duquesne)
Terrence W. Tilleyu (chair of the theology department at Jesuit-run Fordham)
Lisa Sowle Cahil (theology prof at Jesuit-run Boston College)
M. Cathleen Kaveny (prof at Notre Shame)
Fr. Tom Reese, SJ (ousted editor of Jesuit-run America)
John Gehring (writes for Fishwrap and HuffPo)
Paul Lakeland (Fairfied U)
Ping!
Thank you for the scoundrels’ list.
Thank you for the scoundrels’ list.
You’re welcome! You’re welcome! ; - )
Soros is setting himself up for the fall of the century. You can’t win this fight, George . . .
Interesting.
George Soros-funded Gehring complains about the “deep-pockets” of the Knights of Columbus. Oh, the irony.
Praise the Lord!!!!!! And pass the ammunition!
Pope should order them to silence:
Nicholas Cafardi (once at Duquesne)
Terrence W. Tilleyu (chair of the theology department at Jesuit-run Fordham)
Lisa Sowle Cahil (theology prof at Jesuit-run Boston College)
M. Cathleen Kaveny (prof at Notre Shame)
Fr. Tom Reese, SJ (ousted editor of Jesuit-run America)
John Gehring (writes for Fishwrap and HuffPo)
Paul Lakeland (Fairfied U)
and if one speaks, excommunicate him.
Unions play harball. The Church should too, to regain its self-respect, if nothing else.
Catholic Bishops are going to see to it that Obama is defeated!!
Quite sad. I will be fasting and praying— but we’d better be prepared with answers too!
Mr. Soros, you WILL LOSE this fight.
The question I have is, why they even listen to the Pope?
Are you willing to sacrifice Catholic charities, colleges and hospitals if you dont get your way on the contraceptive mandate?William Tennent, Sr., middle-aged Scotch-Irishman, sailed from Northern Ireland to America about 1718 with his wife and children. Soon after landing at Philadelphia, he settled into his life-pastorate, the Neshaminy Presbyterian Church in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It was here that Mr. Tennent resolved to establish a school to educate his four sons for the ministry. Nine additional students brought the original enrollment to thirteen. Before then, no young man could enter the Presbyterian ministry without traveling to New England or even to Scotland for his education . . .All of the thirteen original Log College students became pioneers of Christian education in America, and a number of these young preachers founded educational institutions. A monument at the site of the Log College lists fifty-one colleges which stemmed from this little school. William Tennent, Sr., died in 1746 at the age of seventy-three. The following year the log building closed with the opening of its successorthe College of New Jersey (later named Princeton University) . . .
William Tennent, Jr. (17051777)
. . . Upon his brother Johns death, William [Tennent, Jr.] accepted the call to succeed him as pastor of the Old Tennent Church. Students at the College of New Jersey often walked twenty miles to hear him preach. As a trustee of the college, William Tennent, Jr., always kept a watchful eye over the schools spiritual well-being. He once arrived late at a board meeting, to hear his colleagues favorably discussing a proposition from the governor of New Jersey which would revise the colleges charter, to place the school under state control in exchange for a monetary benefit. After a while, Mr. Tennent rose to his feet and said, Brethren! are you mad? I say, brethren, are you mad? Rather than accept the offer . . . , I would set fire to the College edifice at its four corners, and run away in the light of the flames. Needless to say, the trustees ended the bargaining. . . .

Evidently, that would be the choice of Mr. Soros . . .Its not a case of rule or ruin with these people - nothing less than rule and ruin would suit them. The word charity is just an archaic word for love. And somehow, Im not feeling the love from Mr. Soros . . . .
Soros is setting himself up for the fall of the century. You cant win this fight, George . . .
