At least 21 people were killed Sunday in suicide bombings during worship services at three Kaduna, Nigeria churches.
They are the latest victims of Boko Haram, a radical Islamist sect. Its terror attacks on Nigerias Christian community have taken the lives of more than 560 innocent men, women and children so far this year, according to the Associated Press.
Such unholy murder of innocents attests that Islam is not the religion of peace its apologists claim. For Boko Haram feels perfectly justified to kill Christians and any other non-Muslims in the name of Islam.
In fact, violent attacks upon Christians in Muslim-majority countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia tripled between 2003 and 2010, according to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a research fellow at American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C.
In just the past 30 days, Muslim terrorists have murdered more than 1000 innocents and injured another 2000.
Last weeks toll included not only the 21 Christian worshippers killed in Nigeria Sunday, but also the 26 killed the day before by a truck bomb at a crowded market in Landi Kotal, Pakistan.
There were also four persons killed by machine gunfire last week, including a 90-year-old woman, in Parang, Philipinnes; 12 people, including several Christian evangelists, beaten down last week in Cairo, Egypt; and six casualties, including three children, of a Muslim grenade attack in Pattani, Thailand.
If Muslims were victims of such attacks, we would never hear the end of it. Especially if it came at the hands of the United States (orIsrael).
It would be all over Al Jazeera. Thered be a United Nations resolution condemning the attacks. President Obama would apologize for the U.S.and order reparations to the Muslim victims.
Yet, we hardly hear anything about the genocidal crusade against Christians throughout the Muslim World; hardly anything about the 3,000 victims of Islamist terrorism Christians and non-Christians alike over the past 30 days.
Not from the U.N. Not from human rights organizations. Not from the international media. Not from the Arab communities in the United States and other Western nations.
Thats because, while they may not condone terror, they sympathize with the aspirations of those behind the terror.
Those that believe the United Statesis the Great Satan, the epithet first used byIrans Ayatollah Khomeini. Those that believe Israel should be wiped off the map, as Hamas, the Islamist terror group, declared. Those that believe that Christian minorities living in predominantly Muslim countries are infidels deserving of death.
Muslim terrorism is the great evil of our time; a clear and present danger that the civilized world ignores at its own peril.
For as the carnage in Nigeria demonstrated all-too-clearly, Islamist groups like Boko Haram mean to kill all of us who do not bow in obeisance to their god.
Every Muslim doesn’t do this.
Therefore the religion, sick as it is, does not motivate every adherent to blow up or behead every Christian they can.
Some of them are rather passive.
Mainly their religion oppresses their lives and everyone and everything they touch, such as their wives and children. If they don’t have oil revenue distribution, they are sunk, economically. Their beards are measured, if they get caught doing something too western, look out.
I’m not saying the religion promotes peace. Of course not. I’m saying millions of them are NOT bombers and beheaders.
Enough of them ARE, for it to be a mortal threat.
You cite how they are attacking churches.
Hey, they attack other Muslims even more, and are busy killing each other all over the world.
It’s a mess.
There are good people and there are good Moslems. The sets do not intersect; if an individual is a good and pious Moslem, he is a lousy human being. If an individual is a bad and/or impious Moslem, he might be a good person.
Each and every one of them are COMMANDED TO MURDER US!
Sura 4:89 seize them and slay them wherever you find them:
In retirement I am able to enjoy entensive reading of an historical subject. Recently I read The Story of Secret Service by R. W. Rowan, which is one of definitive texts on the subject. He chronicled the talent for treachery of Hassan bin Sabah, who was a Zoroastrian from Persia.
About 1100 AD Hassan bin Sabah, who inherited the Assassins Guild, converted to Islam and enlightened Islamist societies to terrorism as foundational statecraft for political prosperity. Philosophical and religious lawyers then retained their lives, and obtained support for dictators by backwards engineering the Koran into useful totalitarian heterodoxies. Aspiring leaders needed at least an understanding of if not a fondness for murder and duplicity.
After reading that chapter, I remembered the Arab Leagues website where they describe the people they are most proud of in their history of science and medical achievements. I also know from other reading that Saladin was so highly thought by everyone that even Dante assigned him to the highest level in Purgatory.
Next I discovered an interesting correlation. (Establishing an argument for causation would require a PhD thesis.) Concurrent with Sabahs notoriety, foundational thought including Jews, Christians and Muslims as People of the Book became hazardous. Concurrently, Saladins Sufism stressing individual relationship with god that exalted individuals in society became marginalized. This expression of the Muslim faith was allowed to run off into cul-de-sacs of reasoning that looked a lot like Unitarianism, but no one dared follow threads that could lead to an encounter with the living God and revisting the Koran. Concurrently, extraordinary Arab achievements in disciplines such as mathematics, philosophy, science, and medicine submerged within authoritarian and feral societies. Omar Khayyam, Ibn al-Haytham, and Abu Ali al-Hussain Ibn Sina had no successors for uncompromising, independent thought. Such simultaneous extinctions of the individual over a century provide evidence of a very human and pervasive contagion subverting the Middle East.
It reminds me of the co-dependent relationship of Pope Stephen and Pepin king of the Franks. In exchange for defeating Lombard incursions, Pope Stephen proclaimed Pepins sons, and their descendants, kings by divine right. Such was the accepted road to power until the French Revolution vetoed the concept for at least one country.
Never saw it that way.
My theory, admittedly simplitic, is that the Allah’s ultimate man, Mohammed, was a thief, murderer, rapist, liar and betrayer, and Islam goes to Hell from there.
Not a bad summary of where the Muslim world is based on what has survived those first centuries when the outcome was uncertain. These extinctions ushered in bloody electioneering to the present day among aspiring totalitarians. They grasp and retain their power by crafting superior alliances of human cunning and animal brutality. Islamic pronouncements underwrite the barbaric tactics rulers of Muslim countries use for their ascendancy. Religious authentication enables dazzling spectacle and mercurial oratory to belie principled commitment to a continuum where politics is war without bloodshed, and war is politics with bloodshed. Once acquired these skills easily replicate for managing secular philosophies from Democracy to Communism. Why would the Muslim Brotherhood or any organizations like Ai Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and their successors ever abandon strategies proven over a thousand years? The natural result in our present time establishes The Democratic (or) Islamic Peoples Republic of Whatever.
People say Islamic religious fanatics want to take us back to the eighth century. That looks to me to be detrimental to their cause. At that time going another direction seemed an option.
OT, but this will make your day:
Christian protestors taunt Arab-Americans with pigs head on a stake at Detroit festival
Christian missionary groups crashed an Arab-American festival on Friday night armed with a pigs head on a stake and placards making bigoted remarks and promoting the hatred of Islam.
Tensions flared when the protesters, from an organisation called the Bible Believers, attended the annual Arab International Festival in Dearborn, Michigan, waving signs with slogans such as Islam is a religion of blood and murder and Muhammad is a liar, false prophet, murderer, child molesting pervert.
Another offensive placard read: Repent, be converted, that your sins may be blotted out and one missionary shouted Youre gonna burn in hell to a group of Arab-American boys, according to Detroit Free Press.
The war is against Islam, not against Moslems...
incorrect, utterly, utterly incorrect
Hassan bin Sabbah was a Shia from Iran. In fact his father was supposedly an Arab from Yemen (debatable as moslems always want to pretend they are Arabs, the "pure race"
he converted to Ismailism -- a branch of the Shia's
Also, islam’s divergence from rational thought went out centuries before Salauddin. I forget the exact name — perhaps muawiyah can update you.
It's only with its entombment in Shia Law and its expansion beyond people with some history of civilized life that it got out of hand, and there we are today.
The evidence for this is the use made of Christian churches throughout the Middle East before 1000 AD. There's no sign of violent takeover like there is of Hindu temples throughout India and Pakistan.
It's actually quite a point.
There are forces afoot throughout Islam seeking the origins and trying to figure out what that means ~ one such item involved the Kaaba itself. The King of Saudi Arabia decided they ought to do formal professional archaeological work to investigate that building and try to identify who built it ~ at the time all they knew is that it had been there long before Mohammad's time.
National Geographic covered the work, and it's available on the internet. Not unsurprisingly it was a Hindu temple site ~ with a chief god that seems to have been a snake of some sort. There were a variety of odds and ends here and there that suggested very long use for that purpose.
Wikipedia agrees with you. I usually avoid it because it can be so flaky. But outside confirmation certainly helps in comparing to my source.
I did say correlation not causation. Without linking the Koran to the Bible, there is little left for study reaching reasonable conclusions. It sure makes sense that those attempting rational discussions would have been fighting a losing battle for centuries.
I think the bit about the Ka’aba being a hindu temple is more hindu propaganda. There could be a grain of truth in it though...
It is an unusual cut stone structure.
