Most Christians Have No Idea What Mormons Believe [LDS truth claims oft' tucked away by Mormons]
Christian Newswire ^ | June 7, 2012

TORRANCE, Calif., June 7, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- There are more than a dozen key differences in the beliefs of Christians and Mormons, yet most Christians have no idea.

In a recent article in the Christian magazine, World, author Joel Belz made this statement:

"A huge majority of the American public has no idea what Mormons claim to believe. If those holding to the Mormon faith were to place their distinctive truth claims front and center, the public response would be probing, negative, and nasty." -- World Magazine, God's World Publications, online June 16, 2012 edition (Vol. 27, No. 12)

For starters, official Mormon teachings include the belief that God the Father was once a man who progressed to godhood and that worthy men may one day become gods themselves.

On the topic of Jesus, official Mormon doctrine holds that Jesus' death on the cross did not provide full atonement for all sin. There is no concept of the Trinity. Rather, Mormonism is polytheistic, having multiple gods.

Everyone -- whether you are religious or just curious -- should know the differences. A free side-by-side comparison chart showing differences between Mormonism and Christianity is available as a free download for your computer or iPad. It can be printed for personal or group use. This objective chart simple compares the beliefs of Mormonism and Christianity in eight key areas.

“What the world calls ‘Mormonism’ will rule every nation...God has decreed it, and his own right arm will accomplish it. This will make the heathen rage.” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 53)

Between 1842 and 1844, Joseph Smith:

a. Proclaimed himself “King of Zion”, which he claimed held dominion over the United States

b. Appointed Brigham Young as the new Mormon “President of the United States”

c. Appointed other church leaders in his secret “Council of Fifty” as Governors of the various states and territories

d. Began forming his “Nauvoo Legion”, which he claimed would be a “100,000 man militia” to be used to overthrow the US Government with military force (this is where all of the resurgent Mormon militias of the 80’s and 90’s came from, like the Viper Militia and the Michigan Militia)

e. Inducted himself into the US military as “Lieutenant General” even though he had no prior military experience, and began wearing a fake military uniform

f. Began legitimizing polygamy by formally announcing his “doctrine of polygamy”

g. Formally announced his “Doctrine of the Constitution Versus the Law”, which taught that Mormonism was the law of the land, which superseded America Law (same concept as “Sharia Law” of Islam, which is where he also borrowed his newly “legitimized” version of Polygamy from)

h. Formally created his new “Melchizedek Priesthood”, which made all Mormons superior to “Christians” and made them “not-subject” to the man-made Judeo-Christian laws of America, or the Laws of Moses (10-commandements). Smith’s new superior priesthood (superior to the older “Aaronic Priesthood”), made all Mormon males “man-Gods” in their own right who now “held the keys” to circumvent the Christian laws of Moses and the Judeo-Christian laws of America

(In order to be a temple mormon you must, along with others, swear to this as true.)

4 Do you sustain the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and as the only person on the earth who possesses and is authorized to exercise all priesthood keys? Do you sustain members of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators? Do you sustain the other General Authorities and local authorities of the Church?

I just don’t want the American people to get caught up in prejudices that will entrench the current administration in their socialist imposition of power on us.

Well, what about the imposition of power by a mormon administration? Obama has put into place a template for presidents succeeding him to "impose" just about anything on the people. Take a look at Utah and the "imposition" there.

All-Mormon Supreme Court Spells Theocracy to Disgruntled Utahans

Judiciary: Two February appointments broke a 74-year tradition of having at least one non-Mormon justice. Critics cite bias.

June 11, 2000 |PAUL FOY | ASSOCIATED PRESS

SALT LAKE CITY — When Utah's Supreme Court upheld prayers at government meetings as a legacy of Utah's Mormon heritage, four of the five justices were Mormons.

-SNIP-

The latest appointments by Gov. Mike Leavitt underscore the dominance of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah affairs.

"Anybody who lives here knows where all the power is," says Matt Gilmore, 90, a lawyer who for many years was general counsel to the Utah Tax Commission.

"You got a Supreme Court that's all Mormon, a Legislature that's practically all Mormon, an executive department headed up by a Mormon and a Republican Party that's all Mormon."

That may not be surprising for a state founded by a church theocracy and still 70% Mormon. But Leavitt's two February appointments broke a tradition that dates from 1926 of having at least one non-Mormon on the high bench. It was in 1926 that territorial judges who were elected by popular vote began to retire.

Now, from local to federal courts in Utah, members of one faith overwhelmingly rule the bench.

grey, Thanks. That is something I had not though about, but should have realized.
Personally, I have to go through Utah about four times a year, and the ‘mormon way’ is evident everywhere, I have stayed or visited.
I really should have realized how far the hold on the entire population.

Abuse in polygamy is institutional, it is not in monogamy.

The Bible teaches monogamy, not polygamy. While there is polygamy in the Bible, it is always man’s will not God’s.

I would tread lightly, polygamy supporters are not welcome here on FR.

I hope some Inman has the time and inclination to take a look at the Romney campaign and the number of mormons that are in place, including Mike Leavitt.

Key People-Former Gov. Mitt Romney (Early Gen'l Edition)

Just putting "Brigham Young University" in a search will show those who went there, and there are probably many more mormons who went elsewhere....the campaign is loaded, and IMO all the "faithful" will eventually end up in a federal government slot at the taxpayers' expense.

Nah; just the 50,000 or so that are RIGHT NOW pounding on someones door; trying to convince them to ABANDON whatever religion they are in, and come to the welcoming arms of MORMONism; the ONLY true Christian church ON EARTH; let alone America.

RESTORED??

Even more, most who profess to be Christian, don’t know what Christianity teaches.

Joseph Smith said were, “all wrong ... all their creeds were an admonition in his sight, and that those professors (Christians) were all corrupt”.

The Bible teaches monogamy, not polygamy.

So does the Book of MORMON

Polygamy: How it all got Started

Joe: Hey Emma!   Guess what!?

Emma: You KNOW I hate these guessing games! What is it, Dear?

Joe: I heard a voice, probably the Lord, tell me I must take other wives.

Emma: WHAT!?   You ding bat!  Don't you KNOW what our precious BOOK says?   After all; YOU are the one that translated it!

Joe: Books; schmooks.   All I know is I've been COMMANDED to take other wives and you are to OBEY ME!!!

Emma:      "Though shalt NOT commit ADULTERY!!!"

Joe: Silly Woman!  You KNOW better than to take things out of CONTEXT!!!

...and the rest is HISTORY...

THE BOOK OF JACOB
THE BROTHER OF NEPHI
CHAPTER 2

24 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.
25 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.
26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.
  27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.
31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the sorrow, and heard the mourning of the daughters of my people in the land of Jerusalem, yea, and in all the lands of my people, because of the wickedness and abominations of their husbands.
32 And I will not suffer, saith the Lord of Hosts, that the cries of the fair daughters of this people, which I have led out of the land of Jerusalem, shall come up unto me against the men of my people, saith the Lord of Hosts.

Or even HERE:

 1 Timothy 3:2-3
 2.  Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
 3.  not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

1 Timothy 3:12
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.

 Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 132

51–57, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 58–66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.

51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.
52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.
53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.
54 And I command mine handmaid, Emma Smith, to abide and acleave unto my servant Joseph, and to none else. But if she will not abide this commandment she shall be bdestroyed, saith the Lord; for I am the Lord thy God, and will destroy her if she abide not in my law.
55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
56 And again, verily I say, let mine handmaid aforgive my servant Joseph his trespasses; and then shall she be forgiven her trespasses, wherein she has trespassed against me; and I, the Lord thy God, will bless her, and multiply her, and make her heart to brejoice.

They (lds) stick together, that’s for sure. Even in one of my uncle’s real estate office they are all mormons.
My youngest daughter got a job in a small firm a couple of years ago, and she was the only non-mormon they had ever hired, she only lasted about a year. The job itself was great, it was all the other crap.
