The New Mexico Court of Appeals has ruled that it is illegal for a photography business owned by Christians to refuse to photograph a same-sex wedding ceremonyeven though New Mexico law does not permit same-sex marriage.
The court based its judgment on the text of the New Mexico Human Rights Act (NMHRA), which makes it illegal any person in any public accommodation to make a distinction, directly or indirectly, in offering or refusing to offer its services . . . to any person because of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, spousal affiliation or physical or mental handicap.
Elane Photographys owners are Christians who believe that marriage is a sacred union of one man and one woman, the court noted in its opinion. Elane Photography denied Willocks request to photograph the ceremony based upon its policy of refusing to photograph images that convey the message that marriage can be defined to include combinations of people other than the union of one man and one woman
They also believe that photography is an artistically expressive form of communication and photographing a same-sex commitment ceremony would disobey God and the teachings of the Bible by communicating a message contrary to their religious and personal beliefs.

I would go so far as to say that you can’t stop private enterprise. If the government gets oppressive enough, it can drive it under ground, but there is always free market capitalism.
Hmmm, but I thought that the government worked FOR WE THE PEOPLE. They evidently have forgotten this AND the Bill of Rights.
Yes.
‘First they came for the Christians, but I was not a Christian ....’
Big deal.
If I am the Christian photographer who is forced by big thug government to photograph a pervert party then when it’s over, gee, how did all the pictures get so out of focus?
(shrug) You have to fight the scum any way you can.
This will be overturned. The Constitution trumps this Marxist judge if religious liberty and free speech have not seen white-out in the great document.
To decline to lend your services IS speech.

BANK that!
As a contractor when I did not want to take a job or work for a particular kind customer I simply raised my price so high they hired someone else. This way if I did get the contract I was paid well. I always demanded payment up front which was never my normal policy.
I just watched the movie, ‘For Greater Glory’ in a theater and found it to be very relevant to our times.
My immediate thought was, ‘Will I stand and deliver?’ like many of the Mexican citizens did?
Thumbs up
>Does this mean if someone wanted to force a Christian photographer to shoot pornography, they could?<
.
Wow, very perceptive of you to ask that question.
We seem to be forced to accept unnatural acts as being ‘normal’. Those who have forced that law on the population will someday be held responsible for that abomination.
It seems that government is trying to abolish the Ten Commandments just like the communists did and still do.
“white hair/black hair. Its not about the color. Its about the color of the person wearing it.”
That’s absolutely not true. It is the texture of the hair. Some of the tools are different and so are the chemicals. Most often the stylist provide their own tools and some of them are expensive. In one of my businesses I dealt with thousands of salons nationwide, and some had black and white stylists but most did not. It depended on the demographic mix in the locality.
I would say that most black women would not trust a white women to do their hair.
Your problem is that you do not know how to handle your new Hasselblad. ;)
I spent three years charging liberals double and then triple what I charge non-liberals (politics are obvious in my line of work), before I completely stopped working for them. It certainly was profitable, and I did good quality work because they didn't try to compel my service.
A good business person can successfully deal with this issue... no problemo.
Quality was never the issue everyone should receive the same fine quality. The hassle of working in an environment or for someone who you may not agree with was always worth the extra charge. Number killed my business, when he is gone I will start anew with much more knowledge and capital.
We could take a cutting, hide it and preserve it until the coming CWIII is over; then plant it out in the sunshine, once more, for the Patriots, after the tyrants are destroyed.

Maybe more Americans should watch that movie “For Greater Glory” which premiered this week. It shows how Mexican Christians reacted to attacks on religious freedom by socialists.
No shirt, no shoes, no service.
Is that unconstitutional too?
