And so begins the MSM turn on the Republican nominee. And as much as I hate to credit the MSM, and particularly O'Donnell, I cannot find anything in his rant that is inaccurate, other than the number of wives Joseph Smith claimed. O'Donnell says 48, but I believe the most consistent number put forward by historians is 27. On the other hand, Brigham Young claimed 56 wives, so O'Donnell is certainly within range.
So you want Romney to lose to Obama, because you don’t like Mormons?
If we end up stuck with Romney, 2012 will not be a year we will have any best interest to gain.
However we can stop the catastrophic damage currently being done.
Then, we can start working RIGHT NOW to replace Romney (who will be in approximately the same shape George W Bush was at this time 4 years ago) with a real candidate in 2016.
We really don’t have any better option, than to contain the damage at this point, if Romney ends up the candidate.
But Obama really needs to be un-elected. Or we may not have a chance left by 2016, to fix anything at all.
Don’t worry. Romney will not have a pet media like Obama has. He’ll be beatable in 2016. Big time.
“Romney, for all his faults, is nowhere near the risk to America, another Obama term would be.”
Therein is the error so obvious to me. You fail to understand that Romney’s evil and danger to the U.S. is not obvious...it is insidious. Obama is an open evil, everyone (even liberals) are starting to be aware of it. The judiciary spanked him hard last week. They are on to him. He WILL be kept in check. However, Romney can get away with stuff, without a GOP checkmate, because he will have a “R” behind his name. That is scary to me.
If you want to drink his Jim Jone’s Koolaid...I can’t stop you. However, I will fight you with all I am to keep from drinking it myself. This is going to get really ugly if this ABO line of reasoning continues. The GOP is already in disarray. Some lines cannot be crossed, some issues are NOT negotiable. Romney is one of those for me and many.
Romney needs to go away. Obama needs to go away. Both are evil. BTW - I never use the word “evil” lightly.
“The last position I read from Jim Thompson seemed open-ended about Romney in the general election.”
BTW - The owner of the forum is “Jim Robinson.”
FUMR!! No Romney, no way!!
At some point, it’s time to face facts, and deal with reality. In all contests, sometimes you win, sometimes you take second place.
You makes your best effort, and someone takes first place.
I don’t like Romney, but if he wins fair and square (to the extent an unprincipled slimeball can be considered either) then he wins fair and square.
Then we deal with that fact (if that’s what happens), welcome or not, and win the election.
“Win” being the operative word.
OK sorry Boss.
(got ya)
I’ll shut up now. :D
Romney needs to go away. Obama needs to go away. Both are evil. BTW - I never use the word evil lightly."
Exactly.
“We really dont have any better option, than to contain the damage at this point, if Romney ends up the candidate.”
I disagree. Romney will do irreparable damage to the Republican name - I won’t help him do so. Also, it is very hard for a party to unseat its own incubant candidate. That dog won’t hunt.
It is more logical to fight him now hard before the convention and afterwards. He will lose in a general election anyway. By taking a strong stand now, the “I told you so” position becomes tenable. The GOP has got to stop nominating losers and the unacceptable.
Oh BS. Romney's problem is that he isn't particularly conservative, not that he is Mormon.
You are simply a Mormon basher. You obviously hate Mormonism and I can only hope that posts like yours don't drive so many people away from FR that want to focus on defeating Hussein, that we are left with a hollow shell of bitter sore losers.
It's one thing to avoid comment on Willard or point out that you won't be voting for him at the top of the ticket, but suggesting Romney is "evil" is just stupid.
Per post 26, I will respectfully but quietly disagree. :D
It’s important though, Obama not win a second term.
That’s just not a good outcome at all.
“So you want Romney to lose to Obama, because you dont like Mormons?”

You got it! Pretty immature, huh?
Hopefully, the adults will weigh the options offered and do the right thing. Yes, once again we will be forced to choose the ‘lesser of two evils’.
I can’t stand RINO-Romney, but I will bite my tongue in half and pull the lever for him over the WORST PRESIDENT THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER HAD.
We can survive four years of Romney. We CANNOT survive 4 more years of 0bama. No way, no how.
Longbow1969 nailed it in post #2.
Go NEWT 2012!
“’Win’ being the operative word.”
You have a strange notion of what “winning” is. In no way is Romney a “Win.” Even if he unseats the Obamanation.
Both Obama and Romney are unacceptable. How much plainer can I be? I am fully cognizant of what I am saying. What you call “facing facts”, I call “drinking Jim Jone’s Koolaid.”
It is not an option to even consider. It is foreever unacceptable. Nothing will change that. That is a “reality” you need to understand. I am not that small of a minority view.
How many gay men did Obama’s gunmen claim? Three?
“Hopefully, the adults will weigh the options offered and do the right thing.”
Indeed, and that would be to vote for neighter Obama or Romney. Both are equally bad. There is NO lesser of two evils. Both are equally evil.
You have me at something of a disadvantage.
Um.
May have to back off until the convention. But Obama really needs to be beaten.
That is more important than anything else.
Beyond that, no comment.
“...but continuing to attack him is effectively helping the left and doing the Democrats job for them.”

Like I said, you nailed it!
There are many reasons to not like Romney. Being a Mormon isn’t one of them.
I know for sure that 0bama will appoint more Marxists, Communists & Lesbians to the Supreme Court. That’s a given & proven fact by his actions so far. If re-elected, I guarantee he will appoint an openly gay man.
Romney won’t.
