In California, a pastor was arrested for reading the bible aloud outside a DMV.
The justification for the arrest was that while his free speech in reading the bible is protected, he was impeding business at the DMV and forcing people at the DMV to listen to his speech. Which seems like a bit of a stretch.
He was standing 50 feet away from the entrance to the DMV, and certainly wasnt blocking anyone from entering, but he was on public property so it wasnt like he was trespassing either. Whats more, the DMV was closed at the time of his arrest.
It seems the authorities in this case are asserting a right that the public at large not be offended by speech. Which is a silly standard. You dont have a right not to be offended. If that were the standard by which we measured allowable free speech, whether it takes place on a public sidewalk or on a blog, wed have no speech at all.
Id like to see if the authorities would apply this standard to the Occupy Wall Street protesters. How is it that a pastor, reading a bible outside a DMV is a public disturbance worthy of arrest while the occupiers got away with months worth of violence and vandalism in the name of political speech?
And from what I understand, the DMV was closed!
Lawsuit in 3, 2... (And he’ll probably win - or rather settle out.) Unless there is more to the story.
But watch a muzzie roll out a mat and drop to his knees on it and everyone will walk on eggshells around it.
At our local WalMart there is a older black lady that works as a greeter. She is always singing church hymns out loud as she works the entrances of the store. She has been there for at least the 6 yrs we have lived here. She is a staple of the store, people love her.
How long would she remain employed in a place like California? This is why I love the South.
Where was this at in California, does anyone know? I will not sign into a blog to find out.
Amazing! The enemy hate it.
And the Rev. most favored by MSNBC (from New Orleans says Christians in America are not persecuted. There is no war on Christianity in America. Them uppity Christians are just pissin and moanin because they is finally being treated like everyone else.
