To: Paved Paradise
In today's climate there are many hard hearts and militant, angry atheists. Confronting them directly and antagonistically is only going to steel their resolve and validate every negative stereotype they've been fed about Christians. It will in effect, drive them further away from God, and IMHO, that is, in and of itself, sinful.

On the other hand, being kind to those people, letting them see how you personally handle adversity, etc., stands a much better chance of planting a seed in their heart that perhaps makes them question their beliefs (or lack thereof), and ultimately leads them to Christ.

You are right. believe it or not the first gospel i ever heard was in a beer joint, no one was trying to convert me but they were singing (from the manger to the cross).
