Not formally defined means indefensible from Scripture. I agree, except the Trinity most certainly IS defined by Scripture. Mary being bodily assumed into Heaven like Enoch and Elijah? Not so much. Something THAT remarkable most certainly WOULD have been mentioned in Scripture ESPECIALLY since the Apostle John was her official caretaker after the crucifixion. Yet not word one about her in his three epistles or Revelation. Wonder why???
