In the Epistle of Ephesians it is clearly stated: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not 0f yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:8-10)
Then in the Epistle of Titus we read: “But after the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. That being justified by His grace, we should be heirs according to the hope of eternal life. this is a faithful saying, and these things I will affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.” (Titus 3:4-8)
I quote the following: We are not saved by our works, but we will be judged by our works.” (Adrian Rogers)
We must never forget that our Lord Jesus said: “Let you light shine before men, that they may see you good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Regarding the debate about faith and works: Its like asking which blade in a pair of scissors is most important.
