Jesus gave us His Church.

We must protect Her no matter the tools that the Enemy chooses to use against us.

Basically, not discounting your sincerity, this whole post means nothing to me. You wanna know why?

John Ch 3: “You must be born again” Quote, Jesus,

and Ephesians 2: 8-9:

8) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.

So if you are born again, you know that Jesus taught, that you do not need any church doctrine, or any of you own works (in FACT if you do rely upon your own works it is anti-Biblical!). Catholic, Protestant, whatever if you have recieved Jesus through faith, by His Grace (given on the Cross) you will be saved-if not, then repent and trust Jesus, and not your church nor your own righteousness (WHICH God calls filthy rags)!

Blessings, -JS

Eph 2:8-9: By FAITH are you saved by Grace.

Amen! Very true.

My husband’s family is Catholic, he has many who served in the ministry, as Nuns and Priest. They are the most God fearing and God loving people ever. His cousin (a Nun) identifies herself as a charismatic Catholic. (Well, did as she passed about ten years ago.)
My Mom’s family some are mormon and some born again Christian.
My Dad’s family Catholic and born again Christian.
I can tell you that with some exceptions the born again and Catholic members of the family worship God Almighty, and love the Lord Jesus. We may disagree on some things, but the nature of God Almighty we do not. We regularly celebrate together.
(The mormon members do not ever celebrate with us, as they do not believe in the nature of God Almighty as the rest of us do, and have pretty much shunned those of us who call ourselves Christian. It is truly sad they the mormons so deceived.)

I’m sorry, Allon, but God’s Word is His Word, and it is contained in all the books of the Bible. God is big enough to see to His Word, and beginning with Moses and ending with John, Jesus is there throughout, and that same warning applies, because it is a seamless revelation to mankind.

But, as I said to the last commenter, make of it what you will. I’m not going to change your mind.

My original comment was intended for the one who posted this thread—the one who chose to join catholicism. He used to believe the Bible, as the revealed Word of God, without any additional manmade writings and traditions, that we are warned about throughout the Bible.

I assume you believe that there is only one mediator between God and man and when Christ died on the cross, he gave each of us direct access to the throne of God. If this is the case, why would anyone try to elicit the help of a dead Christian?

"I have a great deal of suspicion of those who seem dedicated to causing strife between us."

By "us" do mean all who are willing to die for an unprovable assertion?

Please re-read it. Catholics do NOT rely on their own works for their salvation. God does give us free will, and he will not save us against our free will. We have to accept his free gift or not.

If we accept it, that will be clearly shown by some means from that point moving forward, or we are lying to God.

God also gives us the free will to later reject his gift of salvation, and throw it away.

"..... but found I could only be fed with the “real food” of the Eucharist."

I would ask the "Bible Only" Christians to explain what the Epiousios, the fourth petition in the Lord's Prayer is, if not the Eucharist.

I wasn’t saying all “Bible Only” Christians are anti-Catholic, but that I used to be a “Bible Only” Christian and I was also an anti-Catholic, like many “Bible Only” Christians are.

I, too, am a Catholic convert...but in the other direction. I was an altar boy back when the mass was still delivered in Latin. After a lifetime of honest reflection I proclaim myself to be an agnostic. (Atheism is also a belief in an unprovable assertion.)

Oh boy, 15 pages of yet more previously refuted Catholic apologetic drivel to have to scroll over to even get to the comments!

Sheesh.

I was a cradle Catholic, who went to Catholic schools and who read the announcements and epistle in church, and had relatives and friends who were nuns and priests. A visit to the Vatican made me a protestant.

Now that I am Lutheran, i feel closer to God without all the layers between. I can’t imagine going back. Sola scriptura is the way.

Um, there are many MANY evangelicals that disagree with your sweeping assertion.
The bible is a collection of 66 books that were brought together and compiled into one volume long after John wrote the Revelations.

Further, John himself added to scripture after writing the book of Revelation, which is generally conceded to have been written while he was on the Isle of Patmos. It was long after John left Patmos that he wrote his first epistle. This fact standing alone would be sufficient to defeat the claim that revelation was closed and that man was enjoined from adding to scripture.

John was clearly talking about the Book of Revelations.

Teaching and tradition which never contradicted the OT Scripture, which along with the NT Scripture is the Word of God.

>>And my further prayer is that we ALL may be ONE (just as Jesus prayed) within the one and only Church HE built — about 1500 years before Martin Luther and John Calvin came along — and that we may continue to grow steadily in enlightenment as provided by the “Light of the World”, and progress to an ever greater level of understanding and love (as willed by God) and become saints, and make it into heaven!

I agree. I have no problem with Roman Catholics because they are Christians just like me. When you pray for growth in enlightenment and a greater level of understanding, do you ever consider that Luther, Calvin, and Wesley did just that and were led by the Holy Spirit?

The everyday provision of our needs of life.
