Please re-read it. Catholics do NOT rely on their own works for their salvation. God does give us free will, and he will not save us against our free will. We have to accept his free gift or not.
If we accept it, that will be clearly shown by some means from that point moving forward, or we are lying to God.
God also gives us the free will to later reject his gift of salvation, and throw it away.

Well I agree with you, but Christ outlines IN scripture ALL we need to be saved (and it is Him), faith in Him, and “not of our own” provided by God. So I disagree with your original premise, because it isn’t true. Our faith only comes because of God’s grace, not the following the Church or it’s teachings, not even the ordinances. -JS
