The Democrats have worked their politics into the Church over many years, and we only have a short time to peel some of that away, but with reason and with a charitable attitude, I think it can be done. Being ugly and mean with our fellow Catholics, even if we do think they're being thick-headed, won't work. It will just enforce their own attitudes about Republicans, and won't give them any reason to vote for them in November.
Many moderate-liberal Catholics have been so inculcated in the 'social justice' way of thinking, that they believe any effort to change that means you hate the poor, and want them to die.
I like the way you phrased that. As you know, though Roman Catholic, I practice my faith in a Maronite Catholic Church where these fallacious views have not filtered. The surrounding RC Diocese is uber progressive; the bishop hands out hypodermic needles to drug addicts.
