Spencer Tracy, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Fr. Flanagan in the 1938 film Boys Town, would be proud. The film was nominated for 3 Oscars, including Best Picture.

I've heard of orphanages but never knew anyone who actually lived in one until this past summer. I play +55 senior softball and I met a guy who is 78 and actually grew up in one in northern Michigan until he was finally adopted.

The stories he told me of his life there were truly inspiring..........

Father Flanagan's charity was the very FIRST one I contributed to when I first started working at a real job....eons ago.

Fatherless boys are the SCOURGE of any society, poor boys; there's NO way for them to win. Father Flanagan got to the CORE of a huge problem in our country. God bless him always.
