Franklin Graham, the son of prominent evangelist Billy Graham, questioned the Christianity of both President Obama and presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Tuesday.
Asked in an interview with MSNBC's "Morning Joe" if he believed Mr. Obama was a Christian, Graham said he would "have to assume" he is because "he has said he's a Christian," but then added that he cannot answer the question himself.
"You'll have to ask President Obama," Graham said, when asked directly what he believes about Mr. Obama's faith.
"You can ask me 'Do I believe you're a Christian?' I think the best thing for a person is to ask you directly, so I think people have to ask Barack Obama. He's come out saying that he's a Christian, so I think the question is 'What is a Christian?'" Graham said.
Graham was also asked about the former Massachusetts governor, who is in tight race with Rick Santorum, a conservative Catholic, in next week's Republican primary in Michigan.
"Most Christians would not recognize Mormonism as part of the Christian faith," Graham said, declining to say outright that he does not count Romney, a Mormon, as a Christian.
"I'm just saying most Christians would not recognize Mormonism," Graham said. "Of course, they believe in Jesus Christ, but they have a lot of other things they believe in too that we don't accept theologically. But he would be a good president if he [won] the nomination

I don't think Billy Graham would say such things in public.
MORE OF FRANKLIN GRAHAM’s RESPOSE REGARDING — Romney, Obama and Santorum

“But the question is: What is a Christian? And a Christian is a person that believes Jesus Christ is God’s son who died on a cross for our sins who God raised to life. And that if we put our faith and trust in him, then God will forgive us of our sins. Now, that’s the definition of a Christian. I was 22 years old when I asked Christ to come into my heart. You cannot be born a Christian; you can only be converted. And that is by putting your faith and trust in Christ,” Graham said.
He said that, in a conversation he’d had with Mr. Obama a number of years ago, the president told him he’d started to go to church while working on the south side of Chicago because leaders in the community told him it was a necessity.
“So therefore, by your definition, he’s not a Christian,” prompted MSNBC’s Willie Geist.
“Again. You’d have to ask him. I cannot answer that question for anybody. All I know is that I’m a sinner and that God has forgiven me of my sins. Because I put my faith and trust in Jesus Christ. That’s all I know,” Graham said.
Graham had a different response when asked if Santorum was a Christian.
“Do you believe that Rick Santorum is a Christian?” asked Geist.
“I think so,” said Graham.
“How do you know? If the standard is only the person knows what’s within him, when you apply it to the president why is it different for Rick Santorum?” asked Geist.
Graham said he believes Santorum is “a man of faith” because of the “stand he takes” on moral issues.
“Well, because his values are so clear on moral issues. No question about it,” Graham said. “And I just appreciate the moral stand that he takes on these things. So I believe that he is. He comes from a Catholic faith; I’m Protestant so there are a lot of differences between what he believes and what I believe. But yet I think he is, no question, I believe he’s a man of faith.”

Bad headline. Mr. Graham DIDN’T question whether or not Obama is a Christian. He specifically said he would leave that to Obama. He DID say that Obama favors Muslim people and principles over Christians and their faith. Mr. Graham made fools out of MSNBC.
We play the liberal game all the time. Are you questioning President Obama’s Christianity???!!!
Why do conservatives have to defend themselves for daring to realize Obama is a phoney, or worse? I know people at home are questioning everything and it’s their God given right to do so.
The guy just told him the truth, that Obama said he went to church strictly for political convenience (And then went to a marxist racist nonreligious church, to boot!) I guess Graham should be forced to swear that Obama is a prophet of God?
The only reason Obama favors Muslim people over Christians is because at this point in time in history, a lot of Muslims, and Islam in general, poses a threat to America and is an enemy of America and the historic traditional values of America. In otherwords, it’s the old “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Obama hates America and so do a boat load of Muslims.
I would question how devout a Christian Obama is, based on some statements he has made.
Obama has said that he was attracted to Christianity as an adult. He said that he was attracted by Christian tenets such as “we are our brother’s keeper, and our sister’s keeper”.
Obama completely misunderstands and misinterprets the Bible story in which God asks Cain where his brother Abel is, after Cain murdered Abel, “am I my brother’s keeper?”.
For Obama to cite as his inspiration for his Christian faith, a completely mangled and misinterpreted version of a Bible story, makes me question how much of Christian theology that Obama understands.
So I would question how much Obama truly understands about Christianity, even though he has said he’s Christian, and even though the family goes to church sometimes.
The liberal reporters are just evil. They ask you what you think of each candidate’s religious faith.
Then They run a banner headline that YOU questioned Obama’s faith. (which he didn’t).
AND they argued with Graham because he dared say he believes Santorum is a Christian.
Rule 1: You must vouch for Obama’s Christianity.
Rule 2: You cannot vouch for any republican’s Christianity.
Even though the guy they are asking just happens to be a religious leader, but I guess a reporter is to be the next Pope.
Well he is still not willing to come right out and tell it like it is and defend the sanctity of Christianity from an obvious fraud. But he is better than his dad. His Dad would be having coffee with O, and telling the media what a Great Christian O was. His Dad sure loved the Clinton’s.
Obama was raised a Muslim. He attended Muslim school and was trained in the Muslim faith. His other childhood influence was Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis.
Obama has NEVER been baptized a Christian. His only experience with Christianity was his association with Rev. Wright which Obama admits was only to form political alliances to further his career.
He has been hostile towards Christians(especially Catholics) throughout his life.
Stop the lying. Stop the dissembling. Stop the cowardly wishy-washy answers. Obama was never baptized. Obama has been hostile to Christians. His only relationship with a Christian has been with Rev. Wright.
Tell the truth. Obama is not a Christian.
So what. The response is to redirect to the non-Christian with an attempt at conversion.
Bishop Romney is not a Christian, he’s a Mormon. If he accepts what Mormons teach, and to be a Bishop he surely does, he agrees that anyone other than Mormons is following a false religion. There’s no mystery here, only an attempt by Bishop Romney and the Mittbots to hide the truth. Read Mormon books and documents and there’s no mystery about it, they do not believe in Jesus Christ, they believe in a the brother of Lucifer. Not a lot different than Mooze Lames, really, in that they use some of the same words and names but have totally different meanings for nearly all of them.
IIRC, some of the monasteries in Egypt are the oldest on Earth. I honestly wonder if they will be there next year or the year after.
Christians are being murdered by muslims in muslim countries. Three Samaritan Purse offices have been bombed (2 in the Sudan).
And 0bama says nothing.
When was the last time we SAW 0bama profess Jesus Christ as the Lord God or call the Bible the Holy Bible?
I called Wright’s church in 2008 and simply asked if muslims go to that ‘Christian’ church. The lady on the other end said that “yes, muslims come here.”
How about that.
iThe arent liberal, either. They wouldnt accept the designation, and I wouldnt apply it to them. They only want the designation objective - which simply proves that they are highly subjective, since subjectivity is nothing other than acting on the assumption of ones own objectivity. And I wouldnt call them liberal, except in scare quotes, because liberalism is understood, everywhere except in America, as referring to what is in America mislabeled conservatism. The socialists highjacked the word liberalism in the 1920s, when they had run the (also misappropriated) word progressive into the ground.
Franklin is awesome without a doubt. I have doubts about his father Billy’s true faith however, don’t get me wrong I’ve no doubt that many many thousands owe their salvation to him, but I think that’s God using Billy in spite of Billy’s weaknesses and shortcomings. Do some research - Billy pretty much admitted he’s a democrat to Katie Couric (sp?). Billy said flippantly “Boys will be boys” about Bill Clinton’s many deviant episodes. In one of his book’s Billy says that there’s a possibility that people can be saved without Jesus. I would keep praying for Billy.
These posts are truly amazing. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”, “liberal reporters are just evil”, “Franklin is better than his Dad”, “Mormons believe in the Brother of Satan”, “I have doubts about Billy (Graham’s) Faith”. There certainly is a lot of hate filled judging going on here.
I think he did endorse Nixon once and then stopped making any political comments
At least the Rev. Franklin Graham walks the walk.
Give Rick Santorum credit for telling it just like it is.
