My late grandpa called them “Footwashin’ Baptists.”
He were a laid back Lutheran and thought them a bit over zealous.

Then your laid back Lutheran Grandpa didn’t know what he was talking about. Fr4eewill Baptists wash feet in their churches. The only footwashing I’ve ever been subjected to in my Southern Baptist church building is when I shower after playing sports or working out in the family recreation center.

Oh, no. You’re not going to get away with your statement without defending it. Cite specific examples. I don’t think you can.

“The Southern Baptist Convention is not Christian.”
Yeah, they’re totally Hindu...

Interesting that a lot of Southern Baptist brethren criticized Pelosi for her remark about needing to pass the legislation so we can see what’s in it. The Convention committee exploring this have apparently decided what their recommendation is going to be. They’re going to keep it a secret until they decide we can see what the recommendation is. If that’s the best input that Jimmie Draper can come up with, then we are at the mercy of mad men.

53% favorable, 44 neg.
Probably 38% would pan it because they are the Liberal base, so 6% in addition to them see negatives.
Not enough to change the name.

Staunch Baptist Convention.
The logo and stationary can remain the same.

The term was meant as a tease—this is South Carolina and we have all kinds and grandpa had many Baptist friends—heck you can’t sling a dead cat round these parts without hittin’ one—and he would call them “footwashers” to their faces and they would joke that he was going to heck because that little sprinkle of water on his forehead when he was a baby didn’t count as a real baptism;)
