Otis Holland, 55, a Las Vegas pastor wanted on charges of having sex with underage girls, was captured on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in Mexico.

Holland disappeared from the Henderson area in June, after an arrest warrant was issued for him by the Henderson Police. The warrant was for 11 counts of sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16, one count of child abuse and conspiracy to commit a crime.

On a recent airing of Fox-TV's America's Most Wanted, the pastor's crimes were broadcast, bringing in a tip from a viewer who saw the program. The information was delivered to the U.S. Marshals Service, which had been working in conjunction with the Henderson Police in the search for Holland.

"He was a con man, and he used the church front for his schemes," said Kevin Abernathy, Henderson Police Department's lead investigator on the case, during the Jan. 20 airing of the show. "In the 19 years that I've been on the job, I would rank this as probably the worst case I've dealt with, as far as a predator identifying and abusing victims."

The Mexican National Police, coordinating with the U.S. Marshals Service, apprehended Holland without incident in Tijuana, Mexico, on Wednesday about 10 p.m., according to Javier Jimenez, assistant chief deputy U.S. Marshal.

Holland was deported from Mexico and custody was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service. He currently is being held in the San Diego Central Jail pending extradition back to Henderson.

In December 2010, the pastor originally was arrested on three counts of sexual assault of a victim under 16. Upon investigation by detectives, however, it was discovered that there were allegations that Holland may have had inappropriate contact with other minors, too.

Holland was arrested in January 2011 on a felony count of lewdness with a minor under 14 years old, which involved allegations from yet another girl.

The current arrest warrant for Holland stems from an investigation involving two additional girls who came forward about a month before Holland fled the area.

Holland acted as pastor of the United Faith Church, which had been holding its services in the lobby of a tax service business on Hacienda Avenue in Las Vegas. The alleged incidents involving Holland are said to have occurred at various locations in Henderson and Las Vegas.

Another horrible title by the media. This title makes it look like this pastor went to Mexico to prey on victims, was caught, and arrested there.

Sounds like he should have been arrested and should have been convicted long ago, so that's a good thing. There are others who have long deserved the same, just imagine:

Former (Boston) Cardinal arrested in Italy for molesting boys

Wouldn't that be something? Justice served, finally being held to account.

Naaah, who am I kidding? It'll never happen. It's as if he and others like him have diplomatic immunity or something. It sounds just like UN perverts in some third world country, as far as using and discarding children for sexual gratification, then moving on to destroy another generation in some other place needing their "help."

Apparently you have new evidence - no Boston cardinal has ever been accused of sexual crimes or improprieties. But smearing is apparently fun for some of you.

Oh, that's right. He was just the chief architect of the shuffle-them-around-to-different-parishes approach, to avoiding the problem of priests molesting boys.

My mistake. The fictional headline should have read:

Former (Boston) Cardinal arrested in Italy for aiding and abetting the molestation of boys on a massive scale

Is that better? It sounds worse.

I’m so glad that you post all these proofs that Protestant pastors get arrested and go to jail for the offenses that Priests only get transferred for.

Many people feel as you do. That’s what keeps these people in business. It’s a matter of choice.

Do not make the thread "about" other Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

See ccomment 1 of this thread, wherein the culprit’s prior history of sex crimes was known and yet he was released and people brought children to him.

This was a few weeks ago ..
At the same time another priest was sentenced for abusing boys.. I make excuses for no one.. but Rome does. This local priest “just happened” to be recalled by his order to Rome .. untouchable

not really making it personal — the guy asked me a question, I pointed out he could also ask some others the same question.

So why would you post such a story? Realistically all it could do is drive people from Christianity? I’d be curious to know your pastor’s reaction to you posting such a story. Could you ask him and get back to us with his reaction?

Why should it drive people from Christianity? this is a sinful man, it says nothing about the basic theological truth of Christianity.. These pastors are not Christ, they are flawed men like you or me.
