What must I do to be saved from Gods wrath and be made acceptable to Him? Is it good works that saves? Is it God that saves?
Galatians 2:16 ...for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Revolting cat!
I trust in the Lord, He certainly calls only the evil to salvation as we all sinners.
The bible shows examples such as David and Paul doing evil and going on to be used by God to help bring blessings.
I look forward to responding again if needed in the morning.
It is not a flame, and my question stands, and it derives from personal (not so positive) experiences: why be good?
“What if Bin Laden had said he believed and he really believed?”
In my book he would be saved then. Just like the thief on the cross. Or some death-row murder that has a conversion experience one-day/one-month/one year before execution. Or me, that did/does plenty of sinning still.
And part of my sinning includes thinking “well THAT can’t be right if Bin Laden at the last moment converts and gets all the glories in Heaven ....” (Although I doubt that happened).
Being good comes with the territory. If you have sincere faith in Christ, then you will be good. It’s a great 2 for 1 deal. But only the faith is required.
That is blatant Catholic-bashing.
we know that we are not under the law today
I agree with that completely.
But nothing in what I wrote contends otherwise.
You can find the answer in the Book of Acts.
I am very familiar with Acts 15.
Great question.
Answer: there is more value in being good than in being bad.
But you are incapable of understanding that God and Christ Jesus appointed and commissioned Paul to be the primary apostle to preach to the Gentiles - see and study Acts 9; Acts 22:3-21, especially verse 10,13-14,21; Acts 26:12-23, especially verse 16,17,18,20; Romans 16:25-26; Galatians 2:6-8; 2 Tim 2:15 for all these evidence of truths which you formerly labeled corrupt theology. Contrariwise sir, you who seem to be somewhat, what specific Bible doctrines do you promulgate? I have laid bare the truths of God’s Word which I count precious in the sight of God; what be your personal beliefs?
Don’t post to me.
I’ll debate others instead.
What the fruit was does not seem to matter. The sin is not in the fruit or any part of the tree. The sin is in the choice to disobey and carrying it out. Eve was deceived -- Adam was not. He made a deliberated choice. This is pretty deep how and why. Suggest we just leave it there for now ---
You can't be good, no matter how hard you try. Just one bad XXes out all the good, and you can bet there are more than just one. You can only be or not be. Only The God is good (Jesus said). That is the answer, Hamlet.
From what I’ve read, it wasn’t a ‘tree’ it wasn’t ‘fruit’ and it wasn’t a ‘snake’ in Eden. The snake was satan. Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (KJV)
Here’s the rest.-—> **What was the Real sin in the Garden of Eden?**

False.
Just one bad XXes out all the good
Also false.
Out of gratitude of course. The truely regenerate will do good works not because he thinks he has to but because he wants to, out of gratitude and a desire to please the Saviour who rescued him out of sheer grace. Works will always follow regeneration but will never precipitate it.
“From what Ive read, it wasnt a tree it wasnt fruit and it wasnt a snake in Eden.”

Sorry that I’m not able to reply at length about all this.
Here’s a transcript of a class taught by Dr. Robert L. Dean, Jr. (more about him is found at http://www.deanbible.org ) which I believe gives good info on correct Biblical hermeneutics (principles for accurate interpretation of Scripture):

I like what circlecity says above.
Also, a natural man (unregenerated) may have a remnant of the evidence of God, to Whom this man may feel drawn to give thanks and honor.
The above is just my speculation.
False. (DNA_2012)
Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Psa_14:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psa_14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Psa_53:1 To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
Psa_53:3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Mic_7:2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. Mat_19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Mar_10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
Rom_3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
If you think my statement was false, prove it with correctly transmitted, translated, and interpreted Scripture. That will be interesting.

Also false. (DNA_2012)
Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (The God's single imperative to Adam)
Rom 6:23a For the wages of sin is death;
In The God's economy, just one sin requires 1 death. There is no "fair trade" principle by which you can pay off your debt for sin by imagining you can out weigh it with doing "good" things. The very attempt to do that is sin in itself. If Adam had only one sin accredited to him, for that he had to die. Same for you. Based on your performance to date, are you going to live forever, or are you going to die? Hmmm?
Rom 6:23b ... but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Everlasting life is available by participating in the transaction He offers: You may have Jesus' righteousness imputed to you and be declared judicially not guilty, if you will accept that He has already paid for all your sins to purchase your allegiance, and become His servant. You must not attempt to make up for even your smallest error by offsetting it with some "good" action. His offer of salvation is a gift, but it requires your complete assent.
Most of the great early scientists.....of whom most of the current crop of faux scientists are not worthy to carry their jockstraps......or sports bras, as the case may be, were total creationists and believers.
You probably are already familiar with this, but the website: www.truthinaction.org is the new website for what formerly was Coral Ridge Ministries; the late James Kennedy’s ministry. I believe you can find videos and other info there about the faith and statements by many of the great early scientists.
BTW: After I posted my replies last night and shut down my ‘puter to go get some zzzzzs, I thought maybe I overdid it. If I did; I apologize.
A number of years ago our church offered to tell you your spiritual gift if you participated in a little personal quiz about yourself. They told me that my gift is EXHORTATION. I think that puts me in the same class as the apostle Paul’s buddy Barnabas and others. It surely FITS me. I’ll jump into a dissertation on a passage of Scripture in the blink of an eye.....sort of like a dog that chases cars. ;o)
Blessings on you and yours.
Why do you have to be ‘saved’ by J-sus first? Clearly you and I have very different views of salvation,as I put my faith in G-d alone. No matter who you are,it’s imortant to G-d that you do ‘good works’. We are on earth to do His work,in the sense that we are his partners in making this world a better place. Tikkun Olam,or “repairing the world”.
All righteous people,Jew or Gentile, have a place in the World-to-Come.
