Humility is absolutely disdained in USA 2012. It is mocked.
Yet, Christ, our model was so humble as to wash the feet of his Apostles. BTW, that is repeated every Holy Thursday during Holy Week as the parish priest washes the feet of twelver parishioners.
Humility is still alive in the priesthood — it is one of service.
Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence,
in the soul in which this virtue does not exist
there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.
