Thanks for posting those links.

As an Evangelical, I am surprised at the many Christians who totally discount Newt’s Conversion Experience.

And yet, the forgiveness of past sins is a cornerstone of both the Catholic and Evangelical Religions.

In the Creed, we say “I confess One Baptism for the forgiveness of sin”.

In The Catholic Faith, the adult convert confesses his sin, renounces satan, and states his belief that Jesus died for his sins. The waters of baptism cleanses the new convert, and he is a “New Creature” in Christ.”

The Evangelical Conversion is similar, but the waters of Baptism are considered an outward sign of obedience in response to an inward cleansing. We call it being “Born Again”.

Those who continue to call Newt names are, in effect, casting aspersions upon his Conversion Experience.

Of course, we all get “Blasts from The Past” that come back to haunt us after our conversions. That’s because we live in a wicked world, and there ARE consequences to our (pre-conversion) behavior.

I am just very surprised that Dr. Dobson, whom I have always respected, does not RESPECT Newt’s Confession that he is washed in the Blood of Jesus and REDEEMED.

It bothers me also that he would attack Newt’s WIFE and not Newt himself for adultery.

It is not in line with Christian Belief or Behavior, and I do not understand it at all.
