“ If you want to make them really, really mad preach grace.”

This guy heard me discussing fallacy of free will with some of my arminian brothers.

The law was also given for our benefit, that we may live happy and productive lives. The fact that we don't obey the law is not just rebellion against God but shows that we tend to be self destructive beings incapable of wanting the very best for ourselves. It's like Paul states that we know the law is good but we don't want to keep it. Who can deliver us from this wretchedness?

Given this paradox, the only way we can be delivered is for God to shine His mercy and grace on us. The law killed us not so much because we couldn't keep it, but because it shows us that we don't wish to keep it.
