Pray for our American Heroes and our Nation

Meditate upon these things;
give thyself wholly to them;
that thy profiting may appear to all.
(1 Timothy 4:15)
TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: heroes; nation; pray
Father God, You made our Savior's life a guilt offering for us, His death was enough to handle our guilt. Lord Jesus, help us, Your children in this great Nation, and Lord, help our American Heroes to accept and internalize the fact that if God is for us, who can be against us? It is You, God, who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at Your right hand, O God, and is also interceding for us. In all these things we are more than conquerors through You who love us. Sovereign Lord, Your ways are not our ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are Your ways higher than our ways. We may not always understand Your ways, Lord, but they are always prosperous. Your ways are always righteous. Your ways, O God, are holy. Your ways are loving and faithful. We have considered our ways, Lord. We choose Yours instead. Keep us, Your children in this great Nation, and keep our American Heroes from deceitful ways. Lord God, help us to walk in Your ways. Lord, if being obedient to You causes us to suffer, we know we should commit ourselves to our faithful Creator and continue to do good. Amen

The Pursuit
January 3, 2012
When my husband, Carl, pursued a relationship with me while we were dating, he was serious about it. He called. He wrote notes. He asked thoughtful questions. He bought me flowers, candy, books, dinner, and other gifts. He spent a lot of time and effort in his pursuit of me.
Way back in the 10th century bc, Solomon recommended that kind of serious commitment when pursuing something elsewisdom. A dictionary definition of wisdom, understanding what is true, right, or lasting, sounds crucial if we want a life that glorifies our holy God.
Maybe thats why Solomon used so many active verbs in Proverbs 2 to describe our needed efforts to gain wisdom. He said, incline your ear, apply your heart, cry out, lift up your voice, seek her, search for her (vv.2-4).
Seeking wisdom takes effort, and Scripture tells us where it can be found: For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He isnt storing up wisdom for Himself; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright (vv.6-7).
Seek God with all your heart. He is the source of all wisdom for your life.
What will it profit when life here is oer,
Though great worldly wisdom I gain,
If seeking knowledge I utterly fail
The wisdom of God to obtain? Nelson
You can acquire much knowledge,
but true wisdom comes only from God.
Read: Proverbs 2:1-9
. . . seek [wisdom] as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures.
Proverbs 2:4

*** Almighty and Eternal God, Protect our military as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home safely to the people who love them and to the gratitude of the American people. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

PRAYERS GOING UP FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE
In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.
In like manner, let our prayers now rise for our heroes in the American military who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Amen.
SHADOWS AT ARLINGTON
Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, we pray that you vouchsafe the souls of our Fallen to dwell eternally in your Divine Presence, Amen.
