LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy — For the second time in a week, Pope Benedict XVI has corrected what he says are erroneous interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, reasserting the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church and saying other Christian communities were either defective or not true churches.

Good, my good computer and it’s hard drive both died so I lost almost all my research and graphs, polls, photos etc, I had to go find it again.

The Greek Orthodox actually uses the word “cult” to describe Mormonism.

They really shouldn’t care. It’s funny that they want to bash the Catholic Church while simultaneously demanding approval.

I suppose Jesus words of “wherever two or three are gathered in my name there am I also” shouldn’t be believed per you scenario there?

Well of course not! Because one of those people isn't appointed by a man (himself appointed by 137 other men) who claims a non-Biblical/non-Christ-based requirement to be approved by a certain lineage.

CLEARLY there can be no one outside the Roman Catholic Church who can claim to have any authority from God or any power from Christ to evangelize! You get nothing unless it's done under the jurisdiction of that self-selecting group.

/sarc - every time a Catholic claims other Christians aren't part of the Church, baby Jesus sheds a tear

Darling, you do not appear to be as truthful as you think you are.

"O Virgin most holy, none abound in the knowledge of God except THROUGH THEE; NONE, O Mother of God, OBTAINS SALVATION EXCEPT THROUGH THEE, none receives a gift from the throne of mercy except THROUGH THEE." - Pope Leo XIII, Adiutricem Populi.

"God has committed to her (Mary) the treasury of ALL good things, in order that everyone may KNOW that THROUGH HER are OBTAINED every hope, every GRACE, and ALL SALVATION. For this is his will, that WE OBTAIN EVERYTHING THROUGH MARY." - Pope Pius IX, Ubi Primum.

IF she is the dispenser of ALL SALVATION, and through her and her alone can salvation be attained, then she is necessarily worthy of worship. No matter how your church tries to spin it, she is worshipped if she is the source of your salvation.

AMEN - It is GOD who gives the gift of preaching, or makes a man an Apostle - and God and the RESURRECTED (not Matthew 18) appointed PAUL the Apostle for TODAY Gentiles - read Acts 9, 22, 26.

Acts 9:1: And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,
Acts 9:2: And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.
Acts 9:3: And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: Acts 9:4: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Acts 9:5: And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Acts 9:6: And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

Acts 22:5: As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
Acts 22:6: And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.
Acts 22:7: And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
Acts 22:8: And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
Acts 22:9: And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
Acts 22:10: And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

Acts 26:13: At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
Acts 26:14: And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Acts 26:15: And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutes.

Nothing like this appointment from the resurrected Christ was ever given to Peter to the Gentiles, Kings, etc. God and the resurrected Christ appointed PAUL not Peter to the grace of God message of reconciliation, Peter was still commissioned to the Jews ONLY, not to the Gentiles: Read Galatians:

Galatians 2:9: And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
Galatians 2:11: But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
Galatians 2:14: But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
Galatians 2:15: We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,
Galatians 2:16: Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

And of course, those schismatic Roman Catholics once again show their hypocrisy about “apostolic succession” when in fact it continues with the Eastern Orthodox Church, from which they split. RCC is no more “apostolic succession” (itself a non-Biblical requirement of being “a true Church”) than Lutheranism or Methodism.
What ARE you trying to say here? (You do know that Rome recognizes the Apostolic Succcession of non-Catholic Churches, including the Orthodox, right?)

Sure - start. What are you talking about?

Why would I trust something written by the hyprocritic, schismatic Roman Catholic Church? After all - the Roman Catholics split from the TRUE Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church (which surprisingly doesn’t make it a habit of attacking other Christians).

Catholics can say all they want that they don't worship Mary but the problem the run into is that what they're doing is still breaking the second commandment.

The commandment is not to not worship graven images, but to not make the and bow down to them and/or serve them.

Exodus 20:4-6 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Now they can argue semantics all they want and try to convince someone that they *venerate* Mary but not *worship* her, but the commandment deals with actions, the actions of making an image and bowing down to it and/or serving it.

And that they do.

Bowing down is bowing down, folks. There's just no other way to cut it.

“It is GOD who gives the gift of preaching, or makes a man an Apostle (a la Paul).”

Silly Apostles them:

And the plan met the approval of the whole multitude, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicholas, a proselyte from Antioch. These they set before the Apostles, and after they had prayed they laid their hands upon them.

(Acts 6:5-6)

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.

(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)

Amen & Amen !
Our Lord Jesus said: “Heaven & earth shall pass away, but My words shall never psss away.”

He also said: “I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

I love: “But when the fulness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we may receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.” (Galatians 4:4-7)

Rome has no right or claim to any such "recognition" in that it itself is a schismatic group off of the true Church, and thus has no more claim to "apostolic succession" than Lutherans or Methodists or Baptists.

What odd sect claims that as dogma? Certainly not the Orthodox.

God covers your sin with the righteousness of Christ, imputing to you Christ’s righteousness in His declaration of His justification.

>>What verse in scripture explicitly says what you wrote?
The idea of imputation is derived from late medieval secular philosophy rather than from the Bible.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/2826044/posts

Imputed righteousness would have been a foreign concept to the earliest Christians.

The Roman Catholics claim the requirement for “apostolic succession” - yet Rome itself cannot claim it.
