I’m not sure why some people get hung up on the use of medals, relics, etc in healing. From just a very simple perspective, why limit God to only some kind of “invisible healing” that has no seeming earthly connection? Of course those kinds of healings occur, but I see nothing wrong with believing God may also infuse some medallion or some relic with healing powers, all for His ultimate Glory of course.
Remember, or realize if you didn’t know before, we Catholics don’t worship these things as if they were God. That would be idolatry. Despite what some think, we are very well aware of the evils of idolatry.
Also, and some don’t seem to realize this who are Christian but not Catholic, in the Bible itself there are examples of healing powers associated with objects, and not just Christ Himself. The cloak of Jesus comes to mind. Also, there’s some passage (in Acts I believe) about the early Christians using some artifact to bring healing to people. I don’t know where it is precisely, but I’m not posting this to get into some Scripture debate (couldn’t care less about that). But I know such things are in the Bible, if my previous writings aren’t soothing enough.
Acts 19:11-12. Sorry for being so lazy in my last post as to not look that passage up then. haha
God bless and Happy New Year,
Thank you for all your information.....GG
And don’t forget that time in scripture where a dead man was raised by the relics of that prophet ( Elishas bones ). Or Saul upon being annointed by Samuel being told to go to the tomb / relics of Rachel ( centuries after her death ) where a sign would be performed showing his annointing was to be believed.
And don’t forget that apparation of Moses that was believed by Peter and the other two disciples on the mountain at the transfiguration. All of the scripture then in existence said Moses was dead. It was only from tradition that there is any indication he was assumed, though that is contradicted by other tradition that said he was still dead. It is clear the disciples had no qualms with apparitions.
And my goodness. Bowing toward images ? Has anyone ever pondered the ark of the covenant ? Carved angels and the entire room with embroidered angels on the fabric and later in Solomons temple with large carved angels surrounding it. It was to these “images” representing heaven that all of Israel including the priests bowed when praying.
And all of the above is using the portion of the Bible still accepted by protestants.
My goodness why the Church is almost as “unbiblical” as Judaism, Christ and the Apostles. /sarc
I THINK I agree with you.
So medals heal huh? ...
Act 19:11 ¶ And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
Act 19:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
Read that John..not ordinary miracles... SPECIAL miracles..that would mean miracles usually not seen, ..special..NOT ORDINARY .....these miracles were not preformed BY Paul..or His hanky or apron..but by God....Please not the author of the article..does not praise God..but a piece of metal that represents a man ..
Soli Deo Gloria

CRUX SACRA SIT MIHI LUX, May the Holy Cross be a light unto me,
NON DRACO SIT MIHI DUX. And may the Dragon never be my guide.
crucifix medal of st benedictThe four large letters at the corners of the Cross, C S P B, stand for CRUX SANCTI PATRIS BENEDICTI: The Cross of the Holy Father Benedict.
We are not through yet. In addition to the "Pax" ("peace") motto at the top, we find the following letters in a circle around the margin of this side: V.R.S.N.S.M.V.:
S.M.Q.L.I.V.B. It almost looks masonic; except, of course, the Benedictines are quite willing to tell you what the letters stand for, and they are enough to make any secret society get the shakes:
Jubilee Medal of Saint Benedict St. Benedict Jubilee Medal
This more petite version sacrifices no detail, and of course it shares the same history as the larger medal.
VADE RETRO SATANA; NUNQUAM SUADE MIHI VANA.

Drink the poison yourself!
I believe it is blessed by God.

I forgot with our theology debates. Happy NEW YEAR IN Christ!!
Who OR WHAT got the glory for this ‘healing”? It surely was not God as is always the case with catholics it is a saint or a relic or mary..never do I read praise to God.. and He tells us “I will not SHARE my glory with another”
Read the article John and please post the part that glorifies God and not a piece of metal ...
Glory to God alone
Yes and Shared Amen! But We are His Glory too!

GLORY upon Vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto GLORY,
IMHO those vessels can be and are a Miraculous Medal too.
AMEN!!!
That is in the Old Testament if I remember right nowhere in the New Testament. Also notice my post before this one.
Also the medal itself Glorifies God it is written on the Medal.
but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, even the wisdom that hath been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds unto OUR GLORY: 1 Corinthians 2:6-8 (in Context) 1 Corinthians 2 (Whole Chapter)
1 Corinthians 11:7
(ASV) 7 For a man indeed ought not to have his head veiled, forasmuch as he is the image and GLORY of God
2 Corinthians 1:14
as also ye did acknowledge us in part, that we are your GLORYING, even as ye also are ours, in the day of our Lord Jesus.
2 Corinthians 1:20
For how many soever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the GLORY of God through us.
we had a dog badly mauled by a robber on our farm here in the Philippines, and also developed an infected would. We had the vet suture it and put in on antibiotics.
We took the dog back to the farm later, and he “disappeared”, presumably eaten. Around here, the farmers are poor and figure: Why waste good money on a dog when the children need protein in their diet, and they probably stored the antibiotics away for the next time they ran a fever...
And saying a “medal” “cured” you is magical thinking that gives religion a bad name...
yes, poor people eat dogs, and cats, and mice, and all sorts of things.
And not just in Asia: My sons in South America ate guinea pig, and one of German sisters who worked in our hospital remember eating their puppies during the hunger times during World War II.
As my son told me when I was aghast at one of his stories when the villagers cut up a dead horse that had fallen off a cliff to eat: Mom, sometimes you get weak and you need meat...
And how many Freepers have eaten possum? Or Squirrel?
If you have seen feral dogs that roam the garbage heeps in the third world, you would understand why some Muslims dislike dogs as pets (although they do allow them as watchdogs and to hunt). They not only bite people, sometimes attacking people in a pack, they spread rabies... at least one dog that was befriended and brought home with a soldier in Iraq developed rabies and had to be killed...
be glad you live in the good old US of A!
Damned straight.
