Its that time of year again. The media will soon start reviewing the important news stories of the year, Time will soon select its Person of the Year; so we should get busy selecting the Mormon of the Year.
For those who dont remember, T&S selected Mitt Romney as the Mormon of the Year for 2008, Harry Reid for 2009, and Elizabeth Smart for 2010.

Here are my own nominations:

Stephenie Meyer Like or hate her books, she is certainly the face of Mormonism among many people around the world, especially this year, with the success of the Twilight movies in theaters and news articles frequently mentioning her religion. [2,090 results on Google News]

My mistake. I should have clarified that I was talking about subversions of the angel version. You're talking about the White Salamander version, of which there may be subversions. I don't know if the ghost version is a subversion of the angel version, a sub-sub version of an angel subversion, or a separate subversion.
Sometimes, a Venn diagram or conceptualized I.1.A.a.i. outline is helpful. Sometimes, even that isn't enough.
The Chinese have developed Tianhe-1A, the world's fastest supercomputer. Allegedly, it's real purpose is to keep track of the cost of the City Creek Mall, but two percent (2%) of its time is spent tracking different versions of how the gold plates were found and apologists' explanations of where the Hill Cumorah is.
Wow! Why all the junk? Oh yea I forgot about those early edition NG Mags. Better than Playboy?
I am sure that Colofornian would love to be anti-mormon of the year. So if we have anti-mormon of the year who should we have as the anti-Christian of the year?
I think that the anti-Christian of the year should be involved in a mock christian group who makes daily assaults on the Christian church.
I second that nomination. The mormon church is more interested in building membership with hispanics than in whether laws of the country are followed.
I am pro-Mormon (the person); I am against MormonISM -- the system.
This is no different than Christians who reach out to homosexuals. These people are not "anti-gay" anymore than any given homosexual who has rejected Christianity is (necessarily) anti-Christian as people. (Obviously, some homosexuals are indeed "anti-Christian"...but not automatically so).
Anybody buying into the "anti-Mormon" argument just because MormonISM is opposed likewise must conclude by correlation that all Christians are "anti-homosexual." We as Christians can be both against the lifestyle that is hurtful to themselves and others -- as well as embrace in agape love the homosexual.
Btw...Ripliancum (R.I.P.) is no longer with us. He was zotted last night by our host on a pro-Romney thread. (He truly chose a prophetic FR user name)
....and at the same time, I see that Rip STILL has this tagline.... "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you. -Eph. 4:31"...
Got a question for ya: I have a Toshiba laptop that I was rather fond of until the plug where the hard-drive plugs in cracked off a piece of the slot and the hard drive will not now make proper contact to boot up. Can a new plug slot be soldered onto the motherboard and make this little beauty useable again?
I pulled the hard drive and drained the data from it via an external link up but that goes through a USB port so it will not allow the motherboard to boot up from the external. Any suggestions?
It would almost certainly be impossible as a practical matter to solder a new connection socket onto the motherboard. You would be much better off simply looking for a new motherboard on eBay or from some third-party parts supplier (depending on how old the system is, replacement motherboards, e.g., from other similar systems, can be relatively inexpensive).
In terms of booting from a USB drive, you could check in the BIOS to see if you have the option to boot from USB. I had an old Sony that came with a USB 3.5” floppy drive and the BIOS had an option to boot from USB so that floppy drive could be used to boot the system - very old school by now, of course, but you might check to see. That being said, since the OS installation you cloned off the hard drive “believes” that it is still on the built-in HDD, it may not be able to boot off of a USB drive because that drive is not going to show up properly when the BIOS enumerates the attached disk drives.
I agree I was just going along with the argument. I actually debated how to phrase it and my thinking finally fell to the lowest common denominator.
I find it ironic that Toshiba is now making commercials citing how they build their new laptops with 'shock resistant' plug ups! The models I've owned have been quite lacking in that regard and I doubt I will ever knowingly buy another Toshiba product, since they wanted to chrage me more than $300 to 'fix' the connection problem, plus shipping and handling!
BTW, I meant to send tht query to LC via private reply, but thanks for the advice all the same.

To be replaced by moroni, and then for moroni to be plated with gold! Poor Nephi.
Another item for your investigation...when and why was moroni first gold-plated for his appearances atop mormon temples? What kind of message is this supposed to deliver?
love it!
LOL.
The collective IQ of the thread dropped 10 points with that statement.
