You know one kid. You know he read a series of books. There are many other factors in on that but it’s much easier to blame it on a book, because then we think we know what to avoid. And honestly if he tells you that he likes demons, it’s not from Harry Potter. No demons in it at all, just a bad human who chose evil. No amount of capital letters make that any different. Facts are very real.
My Goddaughter was born in 1989. She read the first of these books when she was 11. She attended Catholic school for 12 years and then went to Colunbia. She went to the Vatican and studied art. She has been dating a nice young man for six years and is still a virgin. Sorry, but I’ll take her as a perfect example for my girls.
I know many kids just like her. Because of her introduction to these books, my daughters and I know many “Harry Potter people”. I don’t know a single one of them into the occult. I know tons that are into Quiddich though and that is fine exercise.
The Lord told you to be not afraid. I do know people who hide from all those scary things. Me? I’ll choose to be a warrior for Christ.
I read the books too. The first two. I do not read any more. If you bring your children up with a good foundation in Christ nothing will stop them. As long as they stay in Christ. But many more are trying the real occultic practices.
Do you see more psychic stores opening up? I did in my northern town now down here in south since being here in a year. I mean brand new ones. Look around it is all connected. You think that is good? It is danger. Wrong. Seductive evil.

*** Oh the sweet whispering! What do you thinking the god of this world uses to get an edge on people. This is one of them. This whole life is a trial for real Godly wisdom until the end.
I will go by the vatican exorcist who knows the enemy better than you and me. I will be praying for us. The more I pray in Christ the more I can see the subtle ways of the enemy.

I’ll go with Msgr. Peter Fleedwood, an expert on New Age and former official at the Pontifical Council for Culture who was advising the exorcists. None of whom are against this Children’s literature.
You and Fr. Amorith can link HP to New Age and the occult to your hearts content but they are two different animals just like marriage between a man and a woman and gay marriage. You can find similarities if you want to find them.
My daughter went to my Priest who told her that Harry Potter is fine as long as it is not a “guide”. It’s not. If you weren’t looking for the devil in those books you would see that the magic is a talent. Not something that can be developed nor can one “sell your soul” to get the talent. You would see that the villain in the book, chose evil, as many humans do and lost his humanity because of it.
I would think that someone as knowledgeable as you are about the occult and New Age would be thrilled to use these books to teach lessons to young people. If you truly deal with young people, use these books to show the consequences of sin. Stop looking for the evil that is not there. Lead them away from the New Age with a tool that they have already.
If you dismiss Harry Potter, then you must never watch Wizard of Oz because of Glinda the Good Witch or God Forbid you pick up any of the Lord of the Rings series. There is an awful lot of magic flowing around there.

You will see the Catholic pov on these books here. Then your passions can be used against true evil. Not the evil you imagine. The Devil has powers to use what seems reasonable and twist it.

To each his own just always pray for your family. I know what I know there are real hidden spells in those books just research it properly. The characters say them literally. You do not have that in Tolkien books. Good bye. Freeper Cheers!

Oh for heaven’s sake, the spells are Latin. My daughters have studied latin for four years and get a big kick out of finding the words that Rowlings used for her “spells”. They are verbatim Conversational (not liturgical) Latin and are exactly what each “spell” is supposed to do. Some are misspelled like ‘Lumos’ was spelled wrong from Latin to English. ‘Luminos’, however, means ‘bright’ and lights their wands like a flashlight. The exception is the “killing spell” which is Avada Kedavra and it’s a play on Abaracadabara.
Who is feeding you this garbage?
If you are Catholic and read these books, you had to recognize the Latin.
