The Young Turks who were behind the Turkish genocides against the Christian minorities in the Ottoman Empire in all fairness were motivated as much by Freemasonry and nationalism as anything else.

The anti-Armenian JIHAD by the Turks

The Jihad Genocide of the Armenians
By Andrew G. Bostom

Despite their 'revolutionary' advent, and accompanying comparisons to the ideals of the French Revolution, the CUP's 'Young Turk' regime eventually adopted a discriminatory, antireform attitude toward nonMuslims within the Ottoman Empire. During an August 6, 1910 speech in Saloniki, Mehmed Talat, preeminent leader of the Young Turks disdainfully rejected the notion of equality with 'gavours' , arguing that it '...is an unrecognizable ideal since it is inimical with Sheriat [Shari'a] and the sentiments of hundreds of thousands of Muslims...'. Our reasoning with regard to him is as simple as it is definitive...

intended to channel Muslim religious sentiments not only against the Christian...

The radicalized Young Turks increasingly viewed the Christian Armenian
population as an enemy, linked to the rival Russian Empire. The declaration of a

I would further argue that the crimes perpetrated against the Armenians were
regarded by the Turks as legitimate defensive methods of dealing with dhimmis
who had violated the conditions of the dhimma, and, hence, were outlaws for whom had violated the conditions of the dhimma,..
