This concert features four works commissioned in celebration of the bicentennial of the Prophet Joseph Smith's birth by the Barlow Endowment for Music Composition at BYU. It includes pieces by Robert Cundick, Mack Wilberg, Murray Boren, and Stephen Jones.
You may have a point
Do you SUPPORT or DENOUNCE the following statements???
Joe Smith killed him a bear when he was only three?
“Sandy the lds christ is not sufficient as lds must agree to work for their salvation.”
That is absolutely not true. Jesus Christ already paid the price for me. I do agree that it would be a good idea to keep the Commandments but only He knows my heart.
If you beleive this Sandy then you are not practicing mormonISM because that statement about Christ being sufficient is not what is taught in your D&C, hence the phrase “after all you can do”.
That “after all you can do” has been reinforced but your leaders since the beginning.
Christians beleive that Christ paid the price on the Cross, lds teaches He paid the price in the Garden and you must work and continue to follow all the rules in order to be “saved”.
Sorry, Sandy but that is what lds teaches, your statement does not agree with your lds professions.
Who was IMPREGNATED in the 'normal' manner.
Christ was Begotten by an immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers.
(Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, page 547, 1966)
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the most literal sense. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was sired by that some Holy Being we worship as God, our Eternal Father. Jesus was not the son of Joseph, nor was He begotten by the Holy Ghost.
(Ezra Taft Benson, The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, page 7)
[Jesus Christ] was willing to make payment because of his great love for mankind, and he was able to make payment because he lived a sinless life and because he was actually, literally, biologically the Son of God in the flesh.

God, the Father of our spirits, became the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh. Hence, the Father saith concerning him, Thou are my Son, this day have I begotten thee. We are informed in the first chapter of Luke, that Mary was chosen by the Father as a choice virgin, through whom He begat Jesus. The angel said unto the Virgin Mary, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore, also, that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. After the power of the Highest had overshadowed Mary, and she had by that means conceived, she related the circumstance to her cousin Elizabeth in the following words: He that is Mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is His name. It seems from this relation that the Holy Ghost accompanied the Highest when He overshadowed the Virgin Mary and begat Jesus; and from this circumstance some have supposed that the body of Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost without the instrumentality of the immediate presence of the Father. There is no doubt that the Holy Ghost came upon Mary to sanctify her, and make her holy, and prepare her to endure the glorious presence of the Highest, that when He should overshadow her she might conceive, being filled with the Holy Ghost; hence the angel said, as recorded in Matthew, That which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost; that is, the Holy Ghost gave her strength to abide in the presence of the Father without being consumed, but it was the personage of the Father who begat the body of Jesus; and for this reason Jesus is called the Only Begotten of the Father; that is, the only one in this world whose fleshly body was begotten by the Father. There were millions of sons and daughters who he begat before the foundation of this world, but they were spirits, and not bodies of flesh and bones; whereas, both the spirit and body of Jesus were begotten by the Fatherthe spirit having been begotten in heaven many ages before the tabernacle was begotten upon the earth.
The fleshly body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore, the Father and Mother of Jesus, according to the flesh, must have been associated together in the capacity of Husband and Wife; hence the Virgin Mary must have been, for the time being, the lawful wife of God the Father; we use the term lawful Wife, because it would be blasphemous in the highest degree to say that He overshadowed her or begat the Savior unlawfully. It would have been unlawful for any man to have interfered with Mary, who was already espoused to Joseph; for such a heinous crime would have subjected both the guilty parties to death, according to the law of Moses. But God having created all men and women, had the most perfect right to do with His own creation, according to His holy will and pleasure: He had a lawful right to overshadow the Virgin Mary in the capacity of a husband, and beget a Son, although she was espoused to another; for the law which He gave to govern men and women was not intended to govern Himself, or to prescribe rules for His own conduct. It was also lawful in Him, after having thus dealt with Mary, to give her to Joseph her espoused husband. Whether God the Father gave Mary to Joseph for time only, or for time and eternity, we are not informed. Inasmuch as God was the first husband to her, it may be that He only gave her to be the wife of Joseph while in the mortal state, and that He intended after the resurrection to again take her as one of his own wives to raise up immortal spirits in eternity.
As God the Father begat the fleshly body of Jesus, so He, before the world began, begat his spirit. As the body required an earthly Mother, so his spirit required a heavenly Mother. As God associated in the capacity of a husband with the earthly mother, so likewise he associated in the same capacity with the heavenly one; earthly things being in the likeness of heavenly things; and that which is temporal being in the likeness of that which is eternal; or, in other words, the laws of generation upon the earth are after the order of the laws of generation in heaven (The Seer, pp. 158-9; cf. B. H. Roberts, Defense of the Faith and the Saints, vol 2, p. 270)
We have now clearly shown that God the Father had a plurality of wives, one or more being in eternity, by whom He begat our spirits as well as the spirit of Jesus His First Born, and another being upon the earth by whom He begat the tabernacle of Jesus, as His Only Begotten in this world. (The Seer, pp. 172-3)
You are wrong Guyin40s; Jesus Christ is my Savior and my Church celebrates His birth, life and resurrection. Jesus Christ is the center of everything in our lives. Please do not say such horrible things about my Church - in the Spirit of the Christmas season. [Saundra Duffy]
Here is yet another example of a Christmas season Mormon churched-owned article (DesNews -- published 12/22/08) co-opting Christ's birth...just posted!: 'Praise to the Man' honors Joseph Smith [Mormon Merry Smithmas!]
In this article, instead of focusing on how knowing Jesus = eternal life (John 17:3), it cites right off the bat how "millions" need to "know Joseph"...a lyric from the "Praise to the Man" praise hymn to Smith...
The article also cites a reference: "He gave us everything."
Was this reference about Jesus Christ? Nope! Wrong! Mormons usurp Jesus Christ in claiming Joseph Smith "gave us everything." And the Mormon church-owned DesNews journalist thought that was such a great quote they made sure it was highlighted during the '08 Christmas season...three days before the celebration of Christ's birth!
Oh???
In conclusion let us summarize this grand key, these Fourteen Fundamentals in Following the Prophet, for our salvation depends on them.
1. The prophet is the only man who speaks for the Lord in everything.
2. The living prophet is more vital to us than the standard works.
3. The living prophet is more important to us than a dead prophet.
4. The prophet will never lead the church astray.
5. The prophet is not required to have any particular earthly training or credentials to speak on any subject or act on any matter at any time.
6. The prophet does not have to say Thus Saith the Lord, to give us scripture.
7. The prophet tells us what we need to know, not always what we want to know.
8. The prophet is not limited by mens reasoning.
9. The prophet can receive revelation on any matter, temporal or spiritual.
10. The prophet may advise on civic matters.
11. The two groups who have the greatest difficulty in following the prophet are the proud who are learned and the proud who are rich.
12. The prophet will not necessarily be popular with the world or the worldly.
13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidencythe highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidencythe living prophet and the First Presidencyfollow them and be blessedreject them and suffer.
I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captainhow close do our lives harmonize with the Lords anointedthe living ProphetPresident of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

2011 Christmas message from President Uchtorf of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints:
Merry Christmas!
As long as that 10% and free labor is a coming, all is good.
“Profit” indeed...
BTW Merry Smithmas...
“She doesn’t have a clue what the LDS teach.”
That’s funny. It is so interesting that you guys THINK you know what I believe. If you want to know what I believe go to:
www.lds.org
www.mormon.org
Merry Christmas!
BTW Merry Smithmas...
“It really chaps me when charlatans use my saviors name for personal benefit.”
Ditto times ten. Anti Mormons sell books, tapes, DVD’s, make speeches, sell seminars, teach workshops, preach, and collect big bucks for doing all of these things.
Meanwhile, there are no paid clergy in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and no passing of the plate.
Merry Christmas!
That or you are one of their very clever smooth operators.
Nah, seen your posts, that ain't it.
You blithely ignore the very facts in front of you from your own “doctrine” and mix in what you knew when your were a Christian, which is common for the captured Christians in the LDS.
Meanwhile you support a “Church” that denigrates my savior, the Real Christ and expect it to be overlooked.
Good luck with that.
Maybe there are a few gullible folk still out there in North American who are not fully knowledgeable of the LDS and buy the victim act. Get ‘em while you can, the information age is catching up with ole Joe's boys...
You bill directly and have to report it to get to go to big Church.
In Christians Churches even those who can't afford tithes get to go to all services, there are no “special ones” in the house of the Real Christ.
As far as the rest, people telling the truth making money to support their ministries are not Charlatans. And none of us are in on that anyways.
Keep swinging...
Sandy I actually listened to all 13 minutes and 13 seconds of this “devotional”. At 30 seconds the “prophet” was mentioned. It wasn’t until 8 minutes and 17 second that the name “Christ” was mentioned, then for a few minutes only referred to as Him or He, at 11 minutes and 36 seconds the speaker says Jesus Christ. There was not one Bible versus, no mention of the Christmas story.....sorry kiddo if this is a Christmas devotion it was sorely lacking.
WOW...
Yeah, that is very “Christian”...
“Merry Smithmas to all and to all pay your tithes so you can be worthy!"
Sorry. Mormons wish they could change Christians' Christmas carols according to their own 'unique' substition of Joseph Smith for Jesus.
Just posted as a new thread:
Joseph Smith: a witness of Christ [O Come, O Come EmmanSMITHuel, anyone?]
SD, I've gone there and gotten the lds scripture verses that totally repudiate your cotton candy version of mormonism plastered here. You remain consistently silent in the face of that rebuke - except to go and make the same repudiated statements again.
