Another poster commented on a different thread about why we "Protestants" come on these threads and criticize Catholics when there are all those unbelievers out there.

My own opinion is because you people don't have a life. You're like divorced wives obsessed with the ex husband. You all are also very poor salesmen of your product. You don't gain coverts by insulting your targets and telling lies about what they believe.

Gee! I do not think hanging on the cross made it easy to be baptised. He had what was called baptism of desire. Christ then recognized his humble request.

It doesn't say that in Scripture.

Peter on the uselessness of water baptism....

1 Peter 3:21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

“When Jesus says it I believe it.”

Good.

“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ “

It’s God who heals, not faith itself.

Lots of people claim to have *faith* as if that makes them special, but everyone has faith in something.

It’s what, or more importantly WHO, our faith is IN that’s the critical component.

Re-read it then, because it does not say that at all.

Didn't someone say something about how if all the splinters of wood purported to be from the cross of Christ were collected together, they could build a thousand ships?

I just heard there are something like 20 churches that have one of the ORIGINAL nails that nailed Christ to the cross..

I would love to know just how this 'belt" came into the hands of the Orthodox church??

This is an amulet that the proletariat hopes will cause an increase in the population ...I suspect that importing muslims would help more

BTW Buddha's Tooth is visiting Myanmar

It says exactly that: “ Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book.”

Quite simply, it doesn’t include everything Jesus did, meaning it is not a complete record.

What is a REAL hoot is when they come onto to a thread about our Russian Orthodox brethren and bash the Catholic Church. And yes, with their usual lies, half truthes, out of context scriptural quotes and refusal to answer even the most basic questions. BTW, if they actually KNEW what the Catholic Church actually taught (and you can see here on this thread their refusal to even look at those teachings) they could at least use the TRUTH about what we believe in argument, rather than lies. Of course that might cause them to think. Very sad.

"You don't gain coverts by insulting your targets and telling lies about what they believe."

Very true!

Which then raises the question, what sort of master do they serve with these words?

Actually, Scripture does contain all we need for salvation.
Here you go then:
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ “

“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” (Mark 6:3)

Luke 24:10 It was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

Was He also denying He had a mother in the following verse?

Matthew 12:46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

When the person said “thy mother and they brethren” he was obviously talking about His blood brothers or He wouldn’t have had occasion to point out that He also claims adopted “mother and brothers” as we are told we are adopted into the family of God. Jesus was clearly differentiating between blood relatives and adopted.

Galatians 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

And please don’t come back to me with some “assumption” that Joseph had previously been married or that they were referring to relatives rather than blood brothers and sisters. It just doesn’t wash.

I know that and I never claimed otherwise.

John 20:30-31 30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

It DOES say that " but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."

John acknowledged that there was more that Jesus did that wasn't written down, but what WAS written was written so that we might believe.

All that he wrote was all that was necessary to lead someone to belief in Christ.

“All that he wrote was all that was necessary to lead someone to belief in Christ.”

So do you go to confession regularly? Or do you pik-n-choose the things God says to suit your own prejudices?

Matthew 1:24-25 24When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, 25but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

It clearly states that Joseph had sex with Mary AFTER she gave birth.

Why not? You reject the answers that much more literate men than you have tendered for 2,000 years. Why are you willfully rejecting the possibility that YOU are WRONG?

When you get done with that odd obsession with the sex life of the Holy Family that so many prods exhibit, you might try answering the above question.

Nope, that is just your interpretation. The hazards of self righteous certainty. Try prayer instead, and confession. You know, doing what God commands?
“Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’ “

>>You don't gain coverts by insulting your targets and telling lies about what they believe.<<

You should have told Jesus.

Matthew 22:18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

Matthew 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

John 2:14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
