A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.
Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.
Ah, yes, pagan comparisons: the final refuge of the anti-Christian.
I’ve seen it among atheists, agnostics and anti-Christians before. By comparing similarities of pagan gods and myths, they think they “explain away” Christ as just another version.
Melicertes, Melqart, Ugaritic Baa, Adonis, Osiris, Dumuzi, Heracles, Eshmun, Alcmene, Castor various similarities in names or heritage, “son a god, resurrected, immortal, born a man,’ etc., Christ is thereby, according to them, either the same only re-branded, or either a myth or a hoax for the superstitious, etc.
No matter where one begins, once one starts down this road on their own, they tend to continue. What they think as a weapon against part of the Church can easily become the weapon they use on Christianity as a whole, they battle themselves with it, and lose.
I’ve seen adamant “Christian’ anti-Catholics on FR end up first as Arians and then denying the divinity of Christ in the span of a couple of years.
When you are in heaven, you are not present in space or time.
I look at the throne as a metaphor. Revelation 12:5 Mary was sinless according to the Fathers according her perfect cooperation with God’s grace that knows neither space nor time.
How could the God of the universe who abhors sin be born of sinful flesh? The first Protestants believed in Mary’s sinless nature.
“Mother Mary, like us, was born in sin of sinful parents, but the Holy Spirit covered her, sanctified and purified her so that this child was born of flesh and blood, but not with sinful flesh and blood. The Holy Spirit permitted the Virgin Mary to remain a true, natural human being of flesh and blood, just as we. However, he warded off sin from her flesh and blood so that she became the mother of a pure child, not poisoned by sin as we are. For in that moment when she conceived, she was a holy mother filled with the Holy Spirit and her fruit is a holy pure fruit, at once God and truly man, in one person.”[19]

Jesus was sinless by nature. Mary was sinless by grace.
Sure they could.
They can apply to a lot of high profile personalities.
Perhaps the reason Jesus set up the church to operate at the local level.
EVIDENTLY you are more Biblical than Cardinal Cushing was on such scores. AS you can see below, LOTS of RC's are convinced otherwise . . . seeing as how she shares in the "hypostatic union of the Trinity" according to such blasphemous sources. . . . and that no one can reach God except through the RCC Ashteroth-Mary-Goddess caricature.
What abjectly blasphemous hideousness . . . fiercely defended hereon for what now . . . 12 years.
Here's the title:

Let me track down the brief portion of quotes upthread . . .
Here they are:
However, as we've seen through a variety of sources--a pile of them in Ferraro's manual about the Rosary--the Roman Catholic et al/Vatican Edifice disagrees with a lot of the claims of RC's hereon to the contrary.

[Quixicated emphases below]
Mary is crowned Queen of heaven and earth, dispenser of all graces . . .
p32
4 - She became Queen of Purgatory, where she exercises her power as mediatrix in behalf of these suffering souls.
5 - She became Queen of us sinners, to assist us through the dangers of this life and to help us in difficulties.
6 - She became the ruler of hell, that trembles at her slightest gaze and is defeated by her power.
"Just as a rock extracted from earth will precipitate into the abyss, so will man, left without Mary's help, quickly slide toward hell." --Richard of St Victor
p37
Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thy kingdom come; Thy kingdom come through Mary! --Partial Indulgence
p41
"Mary is the tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who hold her fast." --Prov. 3:18
p43
1 - "Hail Mary, beloved daughter of the Father, Mother of the Divine Son, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, complement of the most august Trinity!"
p45
6 - To her was granted grace greater than that conferred upon all others, 'that she might vanquish sin in every respect.'
.
[Qx: I guess Christ's vanquishing sin was unnecessary--or ineffectual without Mary's assistance?]
p46
7 - "Mary is the dawn of God because, just as the dawn marks the end of darkness and the beginning of day, so Mary indicates the end of vices and the beginning of virtue."
.
[Qx: I guess Christ's conquering on The Cross and HIS conquering trip to hell were unncessary?]
9 - God loved Mary so much that He gave her the keys to His heart. 'No one can go to God without Mary drawing him.'
.
[Qx: I guess Holy Spirit has been relegated to a 'Walter Mitty' role as spouse of Mary? That's SOME POWER to cancel & take over HOLY SPIRIT'S role to draw men to God!]
p47
4 - "Mary, trusting in the word of the angel, destroyed the sin Eve committed by trusting in the serpent.'
.
[Qx: Evidently, she beat Christ to the job of vanquishing sin!]
5 - "She desired the safety of everyone, went in search of it, and obtained it; it was also through her that this salvation was wrought."
.
[QX: What an unnecessary waste of precious Blood and suffering on THE CROSS!!!/sar]
p47
10 - "As Noah's Ark saved all the animals that entered it, so Mary saves all the souls that entrust themselves to her care."
p50
8 - "If she were not so holy as she is, how could God appoint her to be the ladder of Paradise, the advocate of the world, meatrix between HIm and us?"
p50
4 - "By becoming Mother of God, Mary belongs to the order of hypostatic union; hence she participates IN the infinite sanctity of God."
Ironic how every symbol used by the RCC comes from pagan practices isnt it?
sinless like Christ? NO!
omnipresent like God? NO!
sits on a throne like God? NO!
want to try again?
Jesus was sinless by HIS OWN MERITS. Mary was protected from sinning ( full of grace ) by the GRACE OF GOD. BIG DIFFERENCE.
ONLY GOD IS OMNIPRESENT. Those “in Christ” BECOME PARTAKERS OF THE DIVINE NATURE, but it is a gift from God.
Jesus Christ reigns as King in heaven, Mary worships the King like all the saved from all eternity.
I noticed that.
The parallels are too obvious to miss.
Organized religion is organized religion.
Baptismal regeneration runs contrary to their extreme interpretation of Sola Fide. They go WAY beyond Luther.
Maybe you should become Eastern Orthodox. It’s a DISORGANIZED religion. :)
LOL!
Every diocese is a local Church that is fully the Catholic Church unto itself.
Read Metropolitan Jonah’s work on primacy and locality to understand my point. He’s the prime bishop of the Orthodox Church in America.

>>You mean like the cross?
i am going to go out on a limb and assume you never took a logic course, have you?
Peter told the people in Acts 2:38 to be baptized so their sins WOULD be forgiven. a future event.
how do we know it would be a future event?
because we read in v37, Brethern, what shall we do?
forgiveness of sins HAD NOT OCCURRED YET.
stop trying to twist Scripture like a pretzel.
What did Jesus say when someone said Mary was blessed?
Luke 11:27And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28 But he said, Nay rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Then we find that Mary was blessed among women but Jael was blessed above women.
The words spoken to Mary were no different then were spoken to Jael in Judges. In fact, Jael was called blessed above women. Mary was called blessed among women.
Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
Judges 5:24 Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be,
Those words were also spoken of Noah, Moses, and David.

DECLARED sinless. Don’t cherry pick my post. I never said a believer was sinless but declared sinless in a legal transaction. God considers us as righteous because of our faith in Christ.
Hebrews 10:12-14 12But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Its arrogance to presume that you are sinless and already saved.
We’ve been declared sinless by God, in a legal transaction.
Colossians 2:11-14 11In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Sorry, metmom. If you think that Christ saved you in a legal transaction, then that means that He is legally bound to save you. Two posts. Both theologically wrong. Both very illustrative of those who have departed from the Faith.
I most sincerely wish you well, but I believe metmom would count it as ‘organized.’ If for no other reason than the creed.
It would be interesting to find out what makes a religion ‘organized’ in her view.
What is the minimal amount of organization, if any, that would be allowed in the Church of Metmom.
Is it organized religion if it ‘requires’ any belief at all? Would it be ‘organized’ if all had the same translation of the Bible?
If it has more than one member, is it organized? Requirements for members?

What evidence do you have for this statement? None. We have the universally recognized Greek Father St. John of Damascus testifying in favor of the Assumption of Mary and nobody of any stature testifying against it. Give it up. There is no contest.
