A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.
Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.
That happened to me here yesterday. After I posted a verse of scripture I was accused of taking that from protestant writing. The poster didnt even recognize it as scripture.
It may seem odd, but that is your problem, as despite your premise that Romes AIM is necessary for assurance of doctrine, for centuries Rome failed to provide its infallible canon, as documented, and thus if you asked your question prior to then it would have been a promise, not a reality.
But again, while the church can speak infallible truth, it is not assuredly infallible according to Rome's formula and assurance that a statement is true is not by this, but truth claims will be established as being from God after the manner of manifestation of the truth that established men of God as being such, and writings as being Scripture, long before Rome presumed to be as God, and by such persuasion souls believed the gospel of Christ, (Acts 17:2,11; 28:23; Rm. 15:19, etc.) to the glory of God.
John did not go on missionary journeys. That is why he, alone among the Apostles, died of a natural death.
I think I’ll go pray a rosary and light some candles in front of the statue of Mary. These sinful creatures here need some blessing.
And you know for sure that all the apostles were there with her?
How do you know who was there with her?
I gave RNmom links to go for Catholic scripture interpretation previously. If you would like to study the official interpretation you can start here, and here. When you're finished if you like more, let me know.
However, you have me wondering: Where, or which, is the official infallible Protestant Bible interpretation/commentary?
Greek Father St. John of Damascus testified “St. Juvenal, Bishop of Jerusalem, at the Council of Chalcedon (451), made known to the Emperor Marcian and Pulcheria, who wished to possess the body of the Mother of God, that Mary died in the presence of all the Apostles, but that her tomb, when opened, upon the request of St. Thomas, was found empty; where from the Apostles concluded that the body was taken up to heaven.”
That is not what I asked..I asked how did ALL 12 APOSTLES HGET TO THE BEDSIDE OF MARY when she dies? How did they learn of her impending death and get there in time??
On John...He preached in Jerusalem, and later, as bishop of Ephesus, south of Izmir in western Turkey, worked among the churches of Asia Minor. During the reigns of either Emperor Nero (AD54-68) or Domitian (AD81-96), he was banished to the nearby island of Patmos, now one of the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. He was subsequently freed and died a natural death at Ephesus c AD100.

We've been declared sinless by God, in a legal transaction.
Colossians 2:11-14 11In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
Exactly
LOL!
Or your wife.
From whichever planet...
LOL LOL SO THEN IT MUST BE TRUE ...LOL Women could not die alone so ALL 12 APOSTLES must have been there... typical tradition made up out of the whole cloth of silence
Amen. One of my grandmothers played a very influential part in my coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ. We often visited them, two at a time, sometimes spending a month or more during summer break from school. I remember watching Billy Graham crusades on TV. Then, when we were shipped back to the US from overseas, and moved to a house across the street from them, we started going to their Southern Baptist Church and it was in a Sunday school classroom that the teacher showed me John 10:27-30. The “light” went on and I became a real Christian. So, here my grandma was all along, in her sweet and subtle way, helping me to see the truth. She gave it to the Lord for us to be saved, and he answered her prayers as well as mine.
Where was that?
Sending us to a site that has the Creeds and to a site that indoctrinates but only references a few texts many of which are taken out of context is your idea of interpreting scripture? I can totally understand why Catholics have so little knowledge of scripture.
Wow that is some mind reading ya do... I have never said or implied that I am sinless..Jesus said He did not come for the righteous..but for sinners..
I am a sinner saved by grace and mercy... heaven will be full of sinners just like me that have been wrapped in Christ ... and hell will be full of the righteous white washed tombs that think one can be righteous based on their works or law keeping ...
Grace is giving someone what they do not deserve.. I do not nor have I ever deserved to be saved.. but God in His mercy ( not giving one what they deserve) has saved me..
I am saved not by my works but by the finished work of Christ
Nobody ever said the Bible commentary from the Catholic church had to be infallible, and nobody ever said that Protestants ever claimed infallibility for their Bible commentaries.
I guess this is the only response to give when there is no answer to be found
The Catachism is nothing but out of context proof texts..The Mormons and JWs can do that as well.. The first rule of scripture interpretation is context , the 2nd rule is context and the 3rd rule is context ..that is where Romes lack of an" INFALLIBLE "COMMENTARY OF THE ENTIRE BIBLE falls short of truth..
I too have a catechism.. that cites scripture.. BUT that is no substitute for reading the scripture IN CONTEXT
However, you have me wondering: Where, or which, is the official infallible Protestant Bible interpretation/commentary?
That my old friend is one of the HUGE differences in catholics and protestants..We believe the Bible is infallible and innerent but we are not.. and so like the bereans we search the scripture to make sure what we hear is true.. Only Rome places itself on equal footing with God ..
