I wish. I hate that. If they must have that ridiculous practice, why not have people exchange a greeting at the beginning of the Mass instead as just before the consecration?

Our church does that too. It’s awkward because you are saying hello to the same people you say hello to at the Sign of peace. There’s not even enough time to exchange names, and then everybody flees after the recessional.
