13. The prophet and his counselors make up the First Presidency—the highest quorum in the Church.
14. The prophet and the presidency—the living prophet and the First Presidency—follow them and be blessed—reject them and suffer.I testify that these fourteen fundamentals in following the living prophet are true. If we want to know how well we stand with the Lord then let us ask ourselves how well we stand with His mortal captain—how close do our lives harmonize with the Lord’s anointed—the living Prophet—President of the Church, and with the Quorum of the First Presidency.

Let go of the hate. You won’t miss it.
I was clearing some bookshelves and ran across a book that highlighted different religions. The Mormon section was not the detail your article was but it correlated the timelines. One thing it said was that Mormons teach that African Americans are descendants of Ham and are black because their ancestors sinned.
Reading what this book said I don’t know how Joel Osteen could declare that Mormons are Christians, even nominally. Have you ever heard Romney say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died for the salvation of those who believe and was resurrected on the third day. Or anything similar? I would like to see the quote because Osteen says he has heard it from Romney.

Well... but did Linus have an ulterior motive, like JS did?
Linus faced and accepted ridicule & scorn for his faith in the Great Pumpkin, and gained nothing in return except for the certainty of his own beliefs.
JS gained honor, power, riches, and access to many women by preaching his tales of deception. And will we “gentiles”, or will sceptical Mormons, ever know whether or not JS came to be deceived by his own deceptions, or was he cynically exploiting them for his own gain up to the moment of his death in a gun battle?
By way of illustration, whenever the History Channel gets dubbed the `Hitler Channel’ for its coverage of WWII, they often show footage of Benito Mussolini addressing mass rallies in Rome. One amazing closeup shows Il Duce shouting and exhorting, then he pauses, folds his arms, and looks around at the crowd with cynical disbelief as he thinks “I can’t believe these people are actually buying this garbage!”
Anyway, I still want the animators to show a grinning Great Pumpkin in actual flight with toys streaming from his pack!

I have heard the evangelicals say that if you confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you are saved . . . UNLESS you’re a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The only thing I can surmise is that you guys have a vested financial interest in keeping this anti Mormon stuff going. My son told me about a book he saw at the Christian book store about how Mormons are a cult and all Mormons are going to hell. Now if whoever wrote that book wasn’t able to sell it anymore, he/she’d be up the creek . . . financially speaking. There are movies, tapes, books, speaking engagements, classes, workshops, seminars, etc. - all about how Mormons are all going to hell. Money making ventures.
