Nope. That may be true in some liberal Protestant churches, but it is not the case in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), nor in the Wisconsin Synod (WELS) or the ELS. Nor in a confessional Reformed church. (OPC, PCA, URCNA)

Thanks to both of you for making it clear that this not some "Weird Thing that Only The Mean Catholics[tm] Do".
A little research on the Internet also proved that the Amish and similar groups maintain closed communion. (Only baptized Amish are allowed to attend their communion services.)
Closed communion is simply the historic Christian practice.
