The parade of hate crimes continue. This time the perpetrator is Vanderbilt University which has put five Christian student organizations on provisional status for being, well, Christian clubs.
Vanderbilt was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church in the 1870s, with a donation from philanthropist Cornelius Vanderbilt. Thus, as is the case with 106 of the first 108 colleges and the universities in the United States, Vanderbilt was brought into existence by followers of Jesus Christ.
Now his followers are being tagged as homophobic bigots and threatened with expulsion from campus because of their sincerely held religious beliefs. Worse, Vanderbilt has drifted so far from its moorings that while it is in the business of driving Christian groups out of existence it has decided to formally recognize Wiccan holidays. Goodbye Christians, hello witches and warlocks.
Being a Christian has now become a punishable offense in institutions of higher learning.
The issue at Vanderbilt began when a Christian fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi, dismissed an openly gay member for violating its organizational constitution. Since being offended now seems to be grounds for filing a complaint directly with the Supreme Court, he went crying to the university and the university, in the vise-like grip of venomous Christophobia, proceeded to commit a hate crime against Beta Upsilon Chi and five other Christian organizations on campus.
These groups have been told to violate the Scripture and their own consciences or they will be denied access to university facilities, university equipment, and the funding from student fees enjoyed by every other student organization.
Hate crime you say? Don't take my word for it. Here is the legal definition of a hate crime:
"A hate crime ...involves...harassment...motivated by prejudice against someone's...religion..." USLegal.com
Here's the definition of harassment:
"Harassment is unwanted, unwelcomed and uninvited behavior that demeans, threatens or offends the victim and results in a hostile environment for the victim."
Try convincing me that the small-minded tyrants at Vanderbilt have not created a "hostile environment" for the victims of this pogrom.
So we see the blatant lie of the left exposed in all its ugly hypocrisy. They claim to be paragons of tolerance but are in fact the most intolerant batch of bigots on the planet. In the name of inclusiveness they have become the most exclusionary batch of Storm Troopers in the land.
The Christian Legal Society requires that its leaders "lead Bible studies, prayer and worship at chapter meetings." Can't be having that, Vanderbilt said, although one assumes that Wiccan groups will still be allowed to require that their leaders be adept at leading satanic rituals at their gatherings.
The university lamely tried to defend its hate crime by saying, "We are committed to making our campus a welcoming environment for all of our students." Well, ask Beta Upsilon Chi and the Christian Legal Society just how "welcoming" the "environment" at Vanderbilt is for them.
Vanderbilt law professor Carol Swain has called out the university on its bigotry and its disregard for freedom of religion, which of course has the advantage of being a constitutional right.
Said Ms. Swain, since Christian groups will be denied the opportunity to "maintain integrity of beliefs...this hastily conceived policy has the potential to destroy every religious organization on campus."
Well, Ms. Swain, that just might be the idea. Secular fundamentalists are determined to eliminate Christianity from the public square, and as Vanderbilt amply demonstrates, they are willing to commit hate crimes to do it.

Wiccans do not conduct satanic rituals.
You might not like their religion, but it is wrong to make false and defamatory statements about it.
Vanderbilt alumni should be made aware of this. Loss of donations might have an effect on this stupid policy!
It will be interesting to see what happens when they approach the Ingram family asking for another 1 billion dollar endowment.
I’m going to forward this to my congressman. His daughter goes to Vanderbilt.
CurlyDave your point is well taken, however to what do you address? This thread? I don’t know as I just came back to read it. You see, my post was “bflr” which means only “Bookmark For Later Read” as I didn’t have time earlier in the day to read the article, and it looked like something I would want to read about.
Regardless of what happened have a nice day.

One could make a strong case that a person is either in service to God or to Satan. There really is no middle ground.
Is wicca ‘Satanic’? In name, no. However, it definitely does not follow God, therefore it CAN be said that it is, in effect, ‘satanic’.
All errors are not the same. Even satanism has distinctions within it between those who merely invert and parody Christianity and those who are rather more philosophical and (likely atheistic) with no literal belief in God OR Satan.
Each error deserves its own response and refutation. If you just lump them into piles of God and Satan it becomes almost impossible to distinguish the errors and respond to them meaningfully.
