Mexican Presbyterian church severs ties with US Presbyterians over gay clergy

Presbyterians in Mexico are breaking ties with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) because of differences over homosexuality.

The theologically conservative National Presbyterian Church of Mexico voted to stop working with the U.S. denomination. U.S. Presbyterians voted last May to remove barriers for ordaining people in same-sex relationships. The churches share a 139-year history and a network of social service ministries that spans the Mexican-U.S. border.

Presbyterian leaders in the United States said Wednesday they are saddened by the decision and hope to find a way they can continue helping the needy in Mexico and along the border.

The vote by the Mexican church was announced as a group of theologically conservative U.S. Presbyterians meet in Minnesota to debate whether they should break with the denomination, which is based in Louisville.

One statistic that these perverts neglect to study is that of all serial killings and most one shot murders, the perpetrator is a homosexual.

I believe the former is true too, do you have statistics that I could link to?

While sex is important in a committed marriage, it is not the only thing. If you take God, family, and commitment away from a marriage and make it all about sex it will fail. Take away sex, even while leaving the rest, and it will also probably fail.

I disagree with you slightly -- the primary points of marriage are to be God and commitment.

Sex and family may come and go -- what of severely disabled people or very, very old folks? Companionship and God are still there

The problem is when we removed sex from being a component (and not the most important one) of a marriage to be JUST about fun (note: just -- sex should be enjoyable, but should not be just about enjoyment).

By going down this route we said ok to contraception "to prevent mistakes" and for the 5 to 10% of "mistakes", there is the "mistake-corrector" aka "abortion" and if not then "welfare single-mother" and "free to have sex with multiple partners, fathers"

And to avoid this, why not gay sex? it's all related. Plus the ease of getting a divorce "on irreconcilable grounds", societies acceptance of "shacking up" to the extent that if one does NOT do this, then one is considered abnormal etc. etc.

True — as IbJensen put it so well in post 3 “Shoving one’s pee-pee up another’s poo-poo is not only an unnatural and unsanitary way of getting one’s sexual jollies it is against God’s will “ —> it’s unsanitary and just abnormal.

It’s interesting, too, that when the conservative Episcopalian parishes broke with the ECUSA after it ordained the gay bishop, they joined with a diocese in Africa. Guess we DO have a few things to learn from the “Third World.”

They do have a lot of money, though, that is constantly bequeathed to them.

Who's doing the bequeathing?
