Okay....now are all of you done acting like I have come in here to declare Catholic Shiria? Several days ago we had thread about women (and men) who do not dress correctly for Mass. So posted this as a reminder on what proper dress for a Catholic woman is. My how some of us have forgotten. Yes I do agree that it is best if it comes from the heart and is not forced like is done in Saudi Arabia. However this type of behavior starts in the home and in the early years. How many of your young daughters, or you know of young girls who have pictures of Brittney Spears
on their wall? Or how about Lindsey Lohan?
What do you think these images do you young girls? I apologize to the mods here but I am trying to make a point. Girls look at these, girls idolize these, and girls want to be these teen stars!!! I know I did!!! Remember this one?????
Yea! I am that old! I wanted to look like her, to dress like her and to be her. I did dress like her and you know what? My parents never know because what they saw leaving the house and what I had on after was two different things. It was amazing that an actress thousands of miles away had this much power over me as a teen. I was not Catholic then. Had I been it might have been another story and the real "Madonna" would have had more influence over me. Like it should be for all girls? I encourage all parents to have the Blessed Virgin Mary as a role model for their daughter. I don't care if you are Catholic or not. To have them put of posters of Mary and not Brittney, Lindsey, Paris or whoever... I believe this will encourage better dress in them. The Blessed Virgin is the role model women need in today's world full of people like Oprah, women on the View, and as one of you said "Sex and the City". Okay I don't think they will dress exactly like Mary but they won't be the little tramps we see today. Ladies what is your take on this?
