Former member. Try and remember the 8th Commandment, gomer and while you ponder that, post your proof that Chaput is still a registered Democrat.

I also think it’s very dangerous for the Church to identify herself with any single political party. It’s not the business of the Church to tell people to vote for any specific candidate. And while I worked for Robert Kennedy's and Jimmy Carter’s presidential campaigns as a volunteer when I was a young priest, I now believe that was a mistake. I do believe that Catholics should be politically engaged in a vigorous way. But I also think that no faithful Catholic can feel completely comfortable today in either major political party – Democratic or Republican.
