I don’t recall chapter and verse, but the scriptures say something like “many will come in my name”, referring to false prophets.

Except for his assessment that this is a sign of the last days, this fellow seems to be right in line with the Bible and right on the money with his comments.

As for Joel’s prophecy, Peter said it was fulfilled with the events of Acts 2.

What Gov Perry is doing is scriptural and I’ve not heard anything from him that would indicate that he is following anything but scripture. This is a tool of satan to try and diminish the message and to inject doubt in people’s mind about the source of Rick Perry’s belief system.

Personally, I plan on participating in the day of fasting and prayer on August 6. Our nation needs it; we must seek God in order for this land to be restored.

From Wiki:
Todd Bentley
Joel’s Army: Bentley has sponsored an internship program called ‘Joel’s Army’ in addition to having the words “Joel’s Army” tattooed across his sternum with military dog tags demonstrating a level of commitment to the Latter Rain doctrine of the Manifest Sons of God, (or Man-Child Generation) as preached by William M. Branham and George Warnock.
The program’s doctrine was associated to an interpretation of Revelation 12 that in the last age before Jesus returns, there will be a generation of especially endowed Christians who will be able to do many miracles, and will usher in the reign of God. This is in the tradition of William M. Branham and the healing revivals of the 50s, overlapping with Latter Rain Movement theology.
Bentley’s association with Paul Cain, an associate of Branham and himself a healing evangelist of the 50s, is a further connection to the movement. Joel’s Army has been connected to Dominion Theology and Fivefold ministry thinking, and has been described as a “rapidly growing apocalyptic movement” prophesied to become an “Armageddon-ready military force of young people with a divine mandate to physically impose Christian “dominion” on non-believers.

Appearance: Bentley’s physical appearance has been noted for being very unconventional for that of an evangelist. He has dozens of tattoos, multiple facial piercings, and a preference for t-shirts over ties. Bentley’s preaching style is also flamboyant, known for mannerisms like shouting ‘Bam!’ during his delivery

I agree that it is scriptural to pray for the nation and its’ leaders. But I’m concerned that Perry has gotten himself involved with some fringe religious group that is teaching false doctrines.

Perry grew up in the Methodist church, but I understand that Perry now attends Lake Hills Church near Austin. Their beliefs and values look okay to me.

I’ve been hearing about manifestations of this movement for 30 years...a lot of seems to be off shoots of the old British Isreal movement with pentacostalism thrown in. The church is the new Isreal and God will empower Christians to take over the world someday...stuff like that.

Christ came to save the lost and will rule bodily out of Jerusalem. He didn’t come to make men into gods ( though he did say “ye are gods)(little g, not big G)” but rather he came to put God(as in the most high God) into man. The “gods” reference has to do with the imputed accoutability we shall all have before the living God, “knowing right from wrong” and what we did we to honor God with our lives...will he find Christ’s seal in us on that day of Judgment?

I should have clarified “rule bodily out of Jerusalem for a thousand years” after Armegedddon where all the armies of the Earth are liquefied in the fury of God’s winepress of wrath.

I still thing think the gifts of the Spirit as delineated in the New Testament have not died out or of another time but I fear movements like this try to “force a rose to bloom before its time”. These gifts are given to show the glory of God and to induce men to repentence and salvation by Christ’s blood. I fear Satan may be trying to mask a real move of God by assembling a loud raucous band of deceived ones who are yelling...”no, no, over here, over here we have the real Christ!”

1. IMHO, Brannon Howse is in the wrong here. He has been trying to make himself a national Christian leader for a long time. His organization, Worldview Weekends, was a FOR PROFIT business, not a ministry as he himself told me in an email exchange we had many years ago.

Initially, I was interested in the Worldview Weekend concept for my own church and contacted him about it. He responded that if I would send him $10,500 he would set up a Worldview Weekend at my church. I asked him why he did not simply trust the Lord to provide through offerings as many presenters do. He became abusive and insulted me in a decidedly unchristian manner. Mr. Howse has since relented and now presents free Worldview Weekend events funded through freewill offerings.

2. There are numerous shades of gray regarding these doctrines. Another name for "Joel's Army" is Dominionism - a movement that encourages Christians to get involved in politics in order to be salt and light in the process. Mr. Howse is incorrectly tarring many people with the same brush.

Many Christians stay home and don't get involved civically because they consider politics to be "worldly". I personally reject this notion and believe that Christians are ceding the battleground to the anti-God forces because they believe that Jesus will remove them in the Rapture, so who cares about politics? We know that eventually a one-world government and one-world religion will arise because the Bible says so. However, that doesn't mean that we should surrender when there are billions out there who do not a saving faith in Jesus. We are to be about our Father's work regardless of prophecy.

3. Check out the others who are decrying Gov. Perry's prayer event: pro-gay groups, Salon.com, New York magazine, CBSNBCABCPBSCNNMSNBC, Rachel Maddow, the ACLU, The Huffington Post, thinkprogress.org, DailyKos, the Southern Poverty Law Center et al.

4. The event is being sponsored by the American Family Association, hardly a radical group. However, they are biblically oriented and believe, as do I, that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. They have stated that those who do not accept Christ as Savior are headed to Hell. Well, where did they get that idea? From Jesus perhaps? (Luke 13:28)

In this modern day, asserting God's Word is heresy against the humanist paradigm and will be attacked by the Marxist/Atheist media immediately.

5. The AFA has included a spectrum of Christian leaders with a spectrum of doctrines. Aren't we supposed to celebrate diversity? I don't agree with some of these doctrines, but appreciate that they are all coming together to humble themselves, pray, seek God's face and turn from wickedness for the sake of our nation (2 Chron 7:14). The Left simply wants to attack and divide Christians.

6. It is distressing to me that Brannon Howse is using this event to attack and divide his fellow Christians because he disagrees with their doctrine. This aligns him with the anti-God media and political machinery that are doing the same. He does not have a corner on God's Truth. If these Christian leaders of different doctrines can come together for a prayer event, why can't Mr. Howse control his kneejerk reaction for the sake of Christ?

7. This event would not be getting this kind of reaction if Rick Perry was not a potential presidential candidate. The media said not one word when Obama had a Ramadan event at the White House. It seems that now everyone wants a piece of Gov. Perry's spotlight even if they get it by throwing stones.

You are being used. Stop posting your own concerns when you have absolutely no proof; but only supposition or speculation. I’ve heard Gov Perry speaking about this. Dick Bott of Bott Radio network went over this call for prayer and Gov Perry’s belief system. It is scriptural and it is the thing to do at this time in our nation’s history.

I like to ask atheists which situation they'd prefer; it's 2AM and you're walking down a dark alley. Suddenly, you realize four large men are walking directly toward you. Would you feel more comfortable knowing they are leaving a prayer meeting, or a bar?Would you like it better if they we leaving a Christian Crusade, or a drunken orgy?

It is a tool of satan and they are being used by the enemy.

This Day of Prayer and Fasting will happen on August 6th in spite of the enemy.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Who is Dick Bott?

I’m not trying to smear Gov. Perry or trying to discourage people from participating in this event. I’m familiar with the American Family Association and I generally agree with their message. I haven’t heard of this IHOP group before, though so that’s why I posted the thread. It’s important for Christians to not associate themselves with people that are teaching false doctrine, don’t you think?

The Holy Bible doesn't ask for Christians to take up arms, or fight battles. In fact during the End Times, we are warned that those who live by the sword will die by the sword.

We are to become people of prayer. I find it comforting that Rick Perry etc, Joel's Army etc, are properly approaching G*d on their knees! Whatever happens after August 8th is what's critical.

Hussein desires civil unrest and universal stress. Default and financial collapse are part of his plan to cause widespread class warfare and violence. He's all ready to roll with the default. Violence will be generated by his union thugs, college students and other useful idiots. Once they get the riots started, the violence will take on a life of it's own. G*d help us

Stock up now for the looming deadline or starve folks. We have a countdown, which is about to expire people.
